| Rear Ladder - how to remove trim on D4 |
|
Hi all,
I'm trying to install the rear ladder accessory...I really hate that LR don't provide text with their instructions instead of just pictures but anyway...I have the 4 screws from the handle out, the rubber seal is out but I can't work out how to remove the trim.
It doesn't look like the white plastic plugs inside will allow me to simply pull it loose; they sit in the trim in a fashion that suggests they slide in...dunno, I'm confused...
Any suggestions?

you need to remove the 10mm headed bolts from the rear of the handle and then it should just pull off  Club Forum Criminal !!!

Thanks - how do I get the trim off though to get to those bolts? I've read that it just pops off if you pull gently but it sure doesn't look like that would happen on mine...or should I be prising it off with a screwdriver or something?

Make sure you have removed the screw and shroud around the lock mechanism...then get the tips of your fingers under the the trim at one end and pull down firmly 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

The trim is off on the corner - and I can see the connector and three bolts...

One more question...
The plate that hooks over the top of the tailgate - with the sticky pad attached - is it supposed to be flat against the tailgate? Mine has a gap - i.e. not all the sticky pad touches the roof of the tailgate!
Is this a ladder error or am I supposed to bend it until it is level?

Well, I did it and it looks good - left out the rivet thingy's though as I'm not that heavy and I'll use the ladder maybe twice a year! l 
There is a 1mm gap between the edge of the plate and the roof now - I did bend it slightly to fit more snug. Range Rover Evoque Dynamic Si4 Coupe Lux in Orkney Grey
