Rear Seat Audio Controls - No2 |
|
Two Questions, both probably really stupid
1st - I can see on ebay rear seat audio controls for sale. Is this just a straight plug in with the wiring being there or would it have needed to be specced at build. Just read so many things about wiring being there??
2nd - I have installed Ipod kit myself, hmm, not quite how land rover would have done it i am sure. However, i can only change tracks from the steering wheel and not from the main head unit. Is this correct?
Cheers
Pete

My ipod is the same, only volume can be adjusted and my kit was pro installed along with the Parrot kit. I agree, and guess theres no way round it.
However, if its electronic, complicated and a challange, then Wiggs is your man

How are rear controls supposed to work? |
|
According to the manual the rear seat audio controls should allow the passengers to change the channels on fm, tracks on the cd, and volume over all speakers. Mine does not work this way. THe only thing the rear controls in my vehicle can do is change source, tracks, and volume on the source being listened too if the main system is not listening to the same source. I have a MY 06 HSE.
I think it would be nice to let a passenger play DJ and change the radio settings for all passengers to hear, as described in the manual. Is mine broken or does everyone's work this way?

Thats how the ones in my old D2 worked.
Don't have them in the D3
Would love to know if they can be retrofitted though

Might be an LR3 thing vs. Discovery?... mine is the same way - rear audio controls only work for what's coming through the headphones; no option for controlling main unit.

Only steering controls change my iPhone. Not a problem for me as I'm lazy & can't be bothered to move my arm to the head unit anyway!
Rear Seat controls.... mmm not sure TBH , think it would be a luck thing as some of them were built with all the connectors, others weren't. You'd need to take the door panel off to find out really..

In my MY07 SE with the Logic 7 stereo fit the rear controls allow the changing of the source supplied through the headphone sockets. My children wear headphones and listen to CDs while the front seats listen to the radio via the speakers. It does require the fader being biased towards the front but saves having to listen to their music! AJ

pcregeen:
my ipod kit works the same way: only volume control on the head unit, changing track with the steering wheel only. The annoying part is if you switch to another audio source - say radio - and use the steering wheel controls to advance through your favorites, it will advance the ipod as well.
as for back seat controls: mine only operate what's coming through the headphones. God help me if anyone could control the source AND the volume from anywhere in the car!! 2013 LR4 HSE lux | Santorini Black | 5.0 V8

On my 05my the rear controls allow the kids to change the radio channel ........ I really hate it when they do that, I keep thinking I've knocked the steering wheel controls....... TDV6 HSE - Light Guards - White Reflective Sticker
