Rear view camera

Is it possible to fit a rear view parking camera that will link into the nav screen.

I have no access to any special equipment. I was thinking of getting it fitted by a specialist.

You could fit a gvif unit or a D4 screen both will let you have a camera installed with the d4 screen you will need a IId tool to edit ccf with the gvif you won't i also believe there is a ccf edit with original screen to get the screen up on original D3 nav screen now Thumbs Up

The ccf edit on original screen

Is that the RR mod or something new ?

The RR mod is a very budget version.
You don’t get a full picture
You need a gap iid to ccf edit
The display interface is a bit flakey in RR mode

As i saw both options.. i opted for a D4 screen, with a more or less "standard" licence plate light camera (although i bought a higher resolution than "standard").

-D4 screens can be bought rather cheap (paid 80 quid)
-rather easy install (how to is here on the forum, look for user "flack") i might say, i did it in an hour i think. camera wire through the rear door and interiour is a little bit more work, but needed for both alternatives
-simple CFF edit (IID)
-works as it should.... (no extra button pushes needed, just in reverse gear and it works as it should)

looks and works as a factory option then..
 Best regards
Harold

To the two last posters.... reading is not your strongest points i see...for the both of you.... Wink Confused

@peter K, i wrote The d4 screen AND that the camera is more work...

There are 2 how to’s here, it is pretty straight forward if you read them both a few times Wink can be half an hour longer, but not much more.... i have in mind, anyway taking/pulling the 3 pins out the big connecter So they could be re used in the new d4 connector took the most Of my time.. pfff

A day before i did a lot of plastic saw things with a dremel on the D3, as i had to convert it to a commercial version, so was very handy and quick with that part...

@mick-3n. They covered the RR mod allready as A rather “budget version” and were talking about a possible other mod...With full D3 function.. Wink
 Best regards

Can't get more of a full D3 function than a D3 screen that does everything, actually more, you get all radio and phone functions on main screen

Thumbs Up

When I fitted the D4 screen, cutting the rear plastic out took the time.
It was catching on something but took a while to work out what

Yeah, you need to remove a fair bit, so the connectors and cables have their space... that is a bigger Catch than the metal/screen itself...

Thanks for all the replys,it seems to be a lot more involved than I thought and very technical.
I think I will just stick with the standard reversing sensors. Rolling Eyes

Hi Mick_n3, did your mod include any brightness control or does it not suffer?
I am looking to put in a camera and am wondering which is best way to go with screens:
- cheap RR mod...if brightness is ok
- more expensive D4 screen

Cheers
Chris
