Over the past week I have found the rear wiper sticking when first used to the point of actually jamming (& I assume some safety cut off working). I think this may have been encountered before but can't recall the posting? Anyone else come across this or any solution to it (& for that matter what is causing it?)

It was me, I had the arm replaced due to salt corrosion jamming it all up. New one seems fine, although its not too salty on the roads at the moment.

Same problem here too. Dealer has 'fixed ' it more than once but re-occurs every time the road and weather crud accumulates at the back of the vehicle. Dealer has now tacitly acknowledged the problem as being 'known' to LR and the result of yet another piece of poor engineering and component design relative to its intended use. I am awaiting a redesigned component and have been advised that the only interim solution is, 'regular cleaning and lubrication'!

Mine needs to go in to have the rear wiper looked at too – no chance of mine getting stuck in its parked position as when parked it sits about 1cm off the rear screen! This means that the nice clean “arc†you get on a dirty rear screen artistically fades away towards the bottom.
However, still have sticking problems of sorts: if I reverse with just the front wipers on, the rear comes on automatically as it should, but the rear wiper sometimes struggles to get to the vertical position and then stalls there, though happily moves off again if I actually activate it from the stalk

The original post was mive. A nit of oil, regularly aplied, fixes it - but it IS an astonishing design fault. I mean, they can't build a reliable wiper, in 2005?

Same problem with the rear wiper on my TDV6 where the rear wiper is too tight in the hinge so that with some dirt it get stuck.
In new cars for delivery now I see that this problem is fixed with much more play in the hinge.

I am getting the very same problem of my rear wiper stopping at various places through the wipe cycle. When I move the arm it is very stiff.
I have looked on GTR but I cannot see a TSB for the replacement arm and/or spring? Is one available or is it just up to the dealer to 'fix' it in their own way?
Cheers

A dose of vinegar rubbed on the wiper blade should be a start, to clean the thing thoroughly and make sure it's not sticking due to glass / debris.
I guess it's too warm to be sticking due to ice! Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Had the same problem on the D2 as well as my 3. It happened within a couple of months of getting it. Sprayed some WD40 into the hinge (enough to rinse out all the dirt in there) and have not had the problem reoccur in four months. Have to admit the wiper arm does get filthy! Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE
