I used them for my D3 & will do so again when my D4 comes to the end of its LR Approved warranty.

Planning on using WD when manufactures warranty expires, as they appear to cover most if not all of the major items
Also following suit with Warranty Direct next March, the crank is the main reason, no room for wiggle.

What sort of cover do you go for with Warranty Direct?
With all options ticked and £0 contribution to parts (i.e. similar to LR warranty) comes to £1600...
Currently looking at costs for an approved 2015 LRD4 with two year LR warranty, or to chance an independent with warranty direct warranty for two years.
Currently difficult to justify not going to LR direct at that price.

Don’t forget “LR” warranty doesn’t cover the crank in case it snaps like a twiglet. Small risk but big financial consequences. If that happens you may get a goodwill contribution from LR, but more prob nothing.

That's interesting... I would have thought an LR warranty would be bullet-proof.
That does change the perspective on things.
WD now offer optional extras:
Core Plus
Safety System Protection
Emissions System Protection
Multimedia System Protection
All seem pretty essential really.
Do they not try to wriggle out of damage caused to the engine by the crank breaking as 'consequential damage'?

Welcome to the crazy world that is LR ownership outside the first 3 years.
PS WD specifically cover consequential damage, well they did when I took a policy out for my D4.

I work in an industry where design faults end up in court when it costs the client money to fix the fault.
Are LR waiting for one to fail in the fast lane of a motorway with 5 kids in the back before they will act?
I am not looking forward to reading about that when it happens. It is only a matter of time.
so the 2 year warranty on my 2015 land rover is coming to an end in January....
The official Land Rover quote has come in at £910, or £1060 including assistance per year.
WD quote on line coming in at £2134 for 3 years (all the options ticked, with no labour cap or part contribution), or £837 for 12 months.
What are people's views? To be honest, i'm quite tempted but the WD 3 years for piece of mind.... notwithstanding the usual challenges with any warranty company!!!!

I deal with both Landrover extended (administered by Car car plan), and warrantydirect.
I also deal with others, all of whom I dread as I know it will be a struggle.
My personal opinion, I have seen a change in Landrover extended now arguing about covered items. Front lower arm rear hydra bushes, sorry that’s normal degradation over 60,000 miles.
Engine? No that’s a design defect, not covered.
Most normal claims, starter motors, alternators, air mass meters, air sus compressors,door locks etc go through ok.
Warranty direct has been consistent through many years of dealing with them. Very rare they reject a claim.
They sometimes, with big claims have a repairer which offer them a good deal, like autoboxes. They arrange to collect and return the vehicle. But if a local repairer can match the price, then they can repair ok.
Don’t expect a brand new Landrover engine, repaired at the dealer, if they can get it repaired at a reputable source cheaper.
I must say, so far these reapairers seem ok on engines/gearboxes etc.
All other claims are no problem.
You have to prepare and present your case well, so there is no wriggle room, or questions to doubt. But this is normal for the warranty company not to want to get ripped off by fraudulent claims.
These are only my dealings with them, and may not reflect anyone else’s.
My personal opinion is Landrover extended should cover any item which is not a normal ‘service’ item.
Manufacturer defect, should still be covered! The warranty company should then claim it back from Landrover if it’s their fault.
