Any recommendations Spain in July towing a heavy caravan ?

We are planning to go to Spain with our caravan in June / July for about 5 weeks. I know it will be HOT we will be heavily loaded as we take everything Whistle and the caravan is quite heavy.Anything we should look out for as I do not want to overheat my new D4, I have 7,000 miles on the clock. Is the D4 good in heat and towing a heavy van ?

They are designed to work at those temperatures towing to max train weight so should not be an issue .

It will be fine. Just be aware that the temp gauge is not proportional. It will read dead on normal until it starts to get hot when it will move to hot quickly. The other sign that things are getting too hot, is the aircon will switch off and you will quickly feel the heat in the car!

My excuse for getting a alive/BAS remap is that we'll be towing our caravan over the Pyrenees, so need the improved torque Whistle 8)

Also check your length of the total outfit as you may need to add long vehicle signs to rear of caravan for Spain.

Yes I've done the Pyrenees with no problems at all, so just sit back & enjoy the trip

No need to worry about how much torque you've got with a D4 - it will eat the hills. On motorways I knock the cruise control back a couple of clicks when going up a steep incline, to save on fuel.
Been via the Fern pass through the Alps to Austria without a hiccup Thumbs Up

My only advice, fly a Scottish flag in the back window, the French like the Scots and leave them alone, but not the brits.
 In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Down and out's Velar
In UK - Dare not say on this Forum
Gone - Lots of Lode Lane vehicles.

I have towed lots of times in France with the TA and car fully loaded and never had a problem with the heat. Never had a problem with the French either always been very pleasant and helpful.

I really don't know what idea you have of the heat and I'm intrigued by how much heat you think you'll spend in Spain, especially in the north ... but I'll just tell you that the hottest vacation I've spent in my life has been in London In a month of August of 3 years ago. Make your own conclusions
