I dont think that there are 'off road' recovery points.
So we wont be able to do this

There is definitely a recovery point at the rear behind the bumper cover. It's a big hoop welded to the rear end. I found it whilst lying under the rear of the D5 at Les Comes. No idea about the front though. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I've never seen that video before. It's interesting to see how much the design priorities have changed since then... 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as βsecondβ cars π
2021 to date: Hinckley built β14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built β14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

How do you know priorities have changed until you see the detail of engineering design? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Then they were talking about the extreme strength of their "integrated chassis frame design" and the ability to tow 3.5 tonnes (which, to their credit, many of the new range of D5's can still do). Now, they push light weight and aluminium riveted construction. That sounds like a change of priorities in the last 12 years.
I'd genuinely like to see them perform the same test again with the D5. Even if it does it, it's a big change in The selling priorities, from "rugged construction" being king, to "smart" seats, numbers of USB ports, iPad storage and designing out a roof rack so as "not to ruin the style of the car".
Having seen the recent publicity for the 5, it's a bit of a culture shock to see how different that old advert was. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

You are correct in certain observations but you have to ask yourself why ....emissions, emissions, emissions are your answer.
LR can't control that because legislation is driving the process. It is in many respects still a heavy motor despite all of this. I do not anticipate for one minute that the D5 will be any less than capable by relative comparison.
In this day and age the technology that we all use intensively must clearly be integrated for wider benefit so I don't want to discourage the fact that LR have thought about iFads ...despite my dislike of the focus upon one particular tech brand manufacturer, I nevertheless want to wholeheartedly agree that car manufacturers must promote their integration.
As for the roof rack scenario ...I'm sure that one will be forthcoming and it is interesting to note that despite the perceived technical weaknesses of the D5 model.... the weight specification for the roof is actually 5kg more than the D4. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I don't disagree and I appreciate the reasons, it was interesting how just one advert seemed to unintentionally underline those differences. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Really cant explain why, but I appreciate a bit of trivial technical geekery as much as any right thinking person! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
