What does this red warning light mean?
First of all, hello everyone, this forum has been a great help to this new 2008 2.7 TDV6 LR3 HSE owner.
Can anyone please tell me what this red warning light means? I've searched for it and saw it shown in some earlier manuals (this is where I took the photo from even though the 2008 manual I have strangely shows a different icon there) but it is never explained what it means. It has come up twice, in solid unblinking red colour. The first time it went off almost immediately but yesterday it showed up and kept sitting there persistently until I parked the car. The car drives all right but it's never a good idea to have a red warning light there, even for a short while.
Many thanks in advance! The Disco is a fantastic car but one really needs to take a month off to study all the buttons, switches and whatnots this vehicle has.
I stand to be corrected but isn't that the FBH heater activation light on earlier D3?

Thanks! I sure hope so because it would mean two things: a. I have a heater installed and b. Nothing seems to be particularly wrong with the car at the moment
But, shouldn't it be activated only when the car is starting? The first time the light went up we were in the middle of the motorway during warm weather and with a warm engine.
I had checked whether mine has a FBH installed; the VIN check said yes but I hadn't got around to seeing how to test it. Apparently it is visible from below the car; need to check for it next time we lift it up. Aren't there two types of such a heater - one for the engine and one for the car itself?
Edit: just saw a photo showing a FBH under the hood; will check for it tonight.

It could have had an update that uses that light when the headlights are on. Worth checking if it goes on & off with the lights.

Thanks, you may have a point since I recall the first time it went on we were entering a tunnel. It is true that in the 2008 model manual there is a light logo shown in that spot. Will test it when it's dark

Is that light supposed to come on with the FBH ?
I've never seen it come on in my 2005 Disco 3, and the FBH definitely works. I know the light can be programmed with an iid tool to indicate "lights on" but I don't think mine has be re-programmed.
Thanks

Thank you, in any case it means I shouldn't be that worried. I will test the lights to see if it's that. It's possible I have an older panel with newer mapping.

It was a bright idea of LR’s that never actually worked from the off. It was replaced by a green light in later D3s. ISTR it was initially part of getting clock on dash from newer cars for older ones, then later updates gave you the option of red light on or not. Sounds like the car in question has has the early update. Easy to check if it is the lights, just go out and switch them on manually.
All ISTR as many of the subtleties of running a D3 are ancient history for me.

I was even worse, I thought “she’s running really well now”, she didn’t make the next two miles. May she RIP, rust in pieces.

I use light colours like traffic lights, Green good to go Amber, ok if your careful, RED stop!
from the icon wondering if it is light for suspension heights, perhaps next time stop see if you can get off road height, which looks as if this indicated by icon and would not have an immediate effect on driving it. Deffo the defunct FBH light. LR prob thought red coz it’s a warm colour and they didn’t envisage the term “Christmas tree” not applying to Yuletide celebrations.
