Regarding the Aux input.

Can you plug an ipod into the the aux input on the back of the centre console and get it to play through the headphones on the door controls. I can only seem to play either cds or the radio through mine and the kids want to listen to there own music.

Should be possible by selecting the AUX from the door controls. Haven't got the handbook to look at just now but from memory I think it is like the steering wheel mode button - push and hold to get AUX - try this anyway.

Because of the low output from the earphone socket on the iPOD you have to crank up both the iPOD volume AND the Stereo Volume - just watch out for the Traffic Announcements booming through though Whistle

No problem with connecting your ipod into the AUX and then selecting AUX on the radio, do it all the time. Thumbs Up

I'd like to play an IPod through the stereo using the Aux socket. The manual's pretty hopeless on this. Does the socket take a standard stereo jack plug?

Cheers,

Make sure you get a stereo version of the lead. Any high street electrical retailer sells them and they vary in price from a few quid to stupid amounts.

My kids run the iPOD through headphones in the back all the time whilst I listen to CDs or the radio in the main car speakers. Although as said on many threads, the volume is particularly low, so you have to make sure the iPod is wound up to full volume and get the kids to up the volume on their door controls high as well just to get something reasonable. Same is true when playing through the main speakers, volume on the system set around the high 20s to hear anything.

And yes, watch out for when a phone call comes in, traffic news, Sat Nav, etc. as it tends to make you jump out of your seat Smile

If you use a belkin or monster charger/adaptor then you can use the higher level line output from the Ipod which helps a lot with the volume problem...and charges the ipod to boot. Still doesn't solve the volume differential problem - LR really need to allow us to turn down the navigation/tmc voice prompts to a level below default - at the moment you can only turn it up. Search the other threads (or google) for details of the chargers themselves

So that's why my overhead DVD didn't work in the rear headphones - should have held the mode button down (or read the manual).

Instead of plugging the ipod into the car then headphones into the car, why don't you just plug the 'phones into the ipod (with a splitted if you need). Or have I missed something?

If you go into an ipod dealer you can buy all you need to play an ipod in D3. A 12 volt adapter/amplifier. You will need the the short lead to go from aux in to 12 volt adaptor. Total cost about £20-00. It works fantastic. Happy listening.

...you ought also to

level the volumes in iTunes.....I have foung that there is quite a difference in the library items volume levels.....some CD's when copied in vary with the iTunes downloads
if you select all the tunes & right click you get a menu with an option get data....
at the bottom end of this menu you have a a slider that controls volume I've set mine to "half a notch above half" & then select OK.....this should level all the volumes & in conjunction with the sound check you don't get odd tracks that are louder....handy on your iPod if you are using the 3.5 jack lead
 BREXIT - done properly.

Thanks Nick Woodage,

Got a Belkin charger/amplifier for ipod for about a tenner on ebay. 3.5mm cable into Aux socket and other end into the Belkin which has a thumbwheel for adjusting the amplifier gain so it now matches the D3 HK system output on radio and satnav. No need to use the ipod headphone output anymore. The audio out comes through the Belkin plugging into the ipod base dock socket.

Sounds great too.

Belkin Doesn't charge 4th Gen Nano

Just got one of these Belkins. Now back to decent volume through the logic7 system but it doesn't charge the 4th gen Nano. I swapped with the missus and now have her older 4GB nano which charges just fine.
