Reinforced oil pump, 2 versions

I have just see this video and:

(Go to youtube, link: upper arrow, activate subs to understand it, is russian and choose english in the gear down to the right)

Minute 17. Two reinforced oil pumps side by side, so no risk of oil pump case broken, all ok.... BUT there is some internal differences between the reinforced versions, the gears inside have different sizes, from 13mm for the reinforced "version 1", and 15 for the "version 2".

I guess the original "non reinforced" pumps are 13 mm wide.

I see too differences of the seal setting, the new appears to have 4 tabs inside.

The vid is dated nov'17, so the info seems to be not very old.

Maybe this explains a bit the lubrication problems of the broken engines and the noises and/or second "bong" on the D3 starting in the morning?

Opinions?

The four tabs on the oil seal face have been on the new pumps for a few years now, but I don't know when they changed the size of the pump gear wheel.

This is why we recommend changing the oil pump even on the older models pre 07..

I changed my oil pump about 4 years ago, but when it comes to belt change again, it will get another new pump fitted.

Flack Thumbs Up

My D4 is an very first MY10 example and have the reinforced case versión. I guess that all the first reinforced ones have the 13mm gearing as we see in the video.

I dont know the volume/pressure specs of the new one, but I checked mine when changing belts as per workshop manual and now is spot on, no noises, no delay rising pressure, but peace of mine on next belt chance, there will go the pump for me too.

Anyone have the superseeded LR oil pump references and dates or VIN's to know when it turns to the "re-reinforced" ones?. Or as you Flack says the tabbed ones (like the one on the video) are allready available for a few years now and they are the 15mm ones?

I say this because if only removing the seal we can see the tabs and be sure that is the 15 type there is no need to undo the oil pump when doing belts to check.
