Hi all
Firstly, apologies as this has probably been discussed a thousand times before but I couldn't find the answer to this question. I'm seriously thinking about getting a late D3 or a new D4 (3.0). From a financial perspective I'd rather get the D3 but I drove them back-to-back and was seriously impressed with the extra grunt from the D4. I know it's got an extra turbo kicking in low down in the rev range, but I'm wondering how a remapped D3 would compare?

A remapped D3 is probably not far off a standard D4 depending on the tune.
Having been in BellAuto's D4 with just a mild tune thats another story
Anyone want to buy my G4 or even swap me there D4

I would be looking to get a D3 with plenty of warranty remaining, therefore I would want something that would be 100% undetectable by the dealers. I've seen plenty of debate about this on these and other forums. From my casual reading it seems there's two potential approaches: (1) hooking in an external box of some type that modifies the signals being sent to the engine management system, (2) flashing the chip (not sure of it's technical name) to modify the engine management system directly.
Is this correct? If so, what are the pros and cons of these approaches? I'm guessing the box approach would make it easier to revert the car back to original spec. Are there other differences? What are D3 owners with warrantied cars doing?

Ok, I've now read all about BAS Remaps on the sticky thread above. I think that answers all my questions! Sounds like a perfect solution.

D4 understated, Ent? Which model is that, then? I'd have the engine and electrickery tomorrow, but painted wheel-arches and bumpers? This thing has WORK to do...
A TFC re-map plus V-Power fuel (crazy price!) plus Miller's Sport 4 additive is electrifying - you need the DSC setting off!! . I can buy quite a few litres of V-Power for £50k 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods
