Hi
I need to fit a removable towbar to my D3 but am balking somewhat at the price being charged by LR - £450 fitted - which seems a bit steep given that the fittings are all there already (OK the wiring needs fitting but that's hardly building the atom bomb).
Any suggestions to alternative suppliers? I can get the local trailer garage to fit the wiring for £100 so it's just the towbar I need.
Cheers[/b]

EBAY is a good source of removable towbars, and wiring. Loads of threads on here regarding wiring up etc.

2 towbars on ebay just now and as Caravan season is passing, you might get one for £150 or less.

Got mine from Nick at Yeovil Land Rover, cheaper than the local stealers.
Fitted the electirics myself as you don't need any special skills, it took me less than an hour.
If you did get into difficulty you can get plenty of advice from the forum.

I did mine for half the dealers quote.
as mentioned on here -
1] Buy your towbar from e-bay.
2] Electrics from Nick at Yeovil
3] Fit it yourself.
good luck I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Am stunned by the sheer number of decent replies from this forum - just goes to show that D3's attract a better class of owner.
Will go the DIY route then arrive sheepishly at Caffyns Lewes with a handful of wires and bits of plastic for them to reassemble in the right order.....
Next step - bike rack - but it looks like you boys have covered this one already. Will read the various threads and get going.
Cheers

re Towing electrics - It's dead easy , just 'plug n play'.
re Bike rack - I adapted an old hatchback rack for mine.
Works very well, very secure both for bikes and theft.
No board or electrics req'd [unless they're very picky].
Cost is neglible.
nicktdv6 just adapted one for his D3
