Removing gear box support
So im starting the dreaded task of replacing the cat on me discovery as the downpipe flex has split, i know that i need to remove the middle gearbox support to be able to replace the cat but im wondering do i need to support the gearbox while im doing this or will it support itself?
im hoping it will support itself as im doing it on the floor so not much room for a guy like me and a supporting jack under the car Discovery 3 - Black SE with HSE upgrade

Yes, you will need to support the gearbox. The engine will only lean back so far, but there will be a lot of load on whatever it's resting on, plus the leverage of the gearbox.
Interestingly, the engine will stay level on it's own without a gearbox on. Richard

P.S do always support the car with axle stands, before going under it, just in case the air suspension decides to do something silly!Richard
