I have a jar full of dimes, wondered how I was ever going to get rid of them without going Stateside...................... now I'll have to start selling them on eBay in the LR sections as a "patented recovery eye cover plate removal tool for Disco3/LR3". About $1 apiece + postage should be a fair price
As VA stated above us RRS owners don't need them as we have other means of removing the plates Now a disillusioned new Land Rover buyer and have jumped ship to something less expensive and more reliable that hugs trees.... now driving a Mini Countryman PHEV as well as my trusty and brilliant 1996 Epsom Green Defender90 Tdi300

I tow a trailer quite often and have found these screws too fiddly and too much hassle. I don't believe the screws themselves would last long if used regularly.
I have fitted an external socket (wired into the original) and therefore never need to take the plate off. Hire the Best at www.aadhire.com

I don't remember how I dreamed this up, but I swapped the standard retainers for PN# DZM100070. They are the battery cover hold downs for Discovery. Anyway, they have a raised top to grab rather than a flat. They are a tiny bit shorter, so you have to grid just a bit off the "t" portion to get a good fit.

...overtaking a Prius and then slamming the brakes on should be an effective way of removing the cover plate too...kind of two for the price of one Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

Staying in the region of the tow bar covers, how many of you have lost the red tow bar plug thingy? Mine fell off one day never to be seen again. Just wondering if I should bother getting a replacement as it might be useful to stop dirt building up in the tow bar hitch socket. '06 TDV6 SE AUTO BUCKINGHAM BLUE

I lost mine soon after getting the car. I think its somewhere under the boot floor, but I can't find it. I regularly tow with the plug in hitch, and have not experienced any problems engaging or releasing the tow bracket.
I also regularly immerse the vehicle in various grades of mud, and so long as the jet wash is directed up the hitch receiver to remove the crud, it will be fine.
The red plastic thingy is not going to keep much out is it!

They are available as LR Part# DYR500010. Same # for front and rear panels. The Parts book doesn't realy list them correctly.

Forget the plastic screws, replace with magnets ! At least magnetic flexible plastic like on many fridge magnets.
