Replace Your D3 Remote Key for Under £50

After a lot of searching i have finally found an aftermarket source for a fully working D3 remote key.

Cost to me was £38 delivered for the key and £10 to have the blade cut = £48!

This is the Link to the key purchased: http://autotoolscan.com/e/product/pro06/Fo...p1996.html
Note: This the narrow blade 433Mhz version for European markets.
If elsewhere in the world you may need the 315Mhz version, check your existing key before ordering.

I dealt with someone called May. ( may@autotoolscan.com ) who spoke perfect English has was easy to deal with.
They accepted payment by Paypal. Gave me a tracking number which actually worked and the key was delivered in just over 2 weeks.

The key contains a fully populated PCB as per the original.
Unlike other aftermarket keys available, the key is rechargeable and the battery is a Panasonic VL2330 rechargeable same as the original key.
The key contains the Land Rover Logo on the 3rd button and is branded Visteon on the outside, but not on the PCB.

I chose my Nanocom Evo to pair the key to the car. The programming process took about 20 seconds and went smoothly. Make sure your are using the latest software update.
I believe the iid tool can also program keys, but i have not tested it with this key.

I had a new blade cut by a seller on ebay who managed to cut it from photos i send him! Worked perfectly.

I have been using this key daily for about 8 weeks now without fault.

Very pleased.

It's the price they should be, it's a complete rip off the price LR ask for, for what is now pretty simple technology in the scheme of things.

If it programmed with a Nanocom, it will work with an IIDTool also. Might just get one for the D3 Thumbs Up http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

Excellent find Thumbs Up

One question...... I still have the 2 keys. My spare set (now), are all split and got juice spilt on it !!!!

So the buttons don't work particularly well if at all !

Does the new fob come dismantled, so you can transfer the actual blade over ?

If so, this sounds perfect Thumbs Up

Edit : Going by your photo's this appears to be the case Embarassed

Where does he get keys from?? Are they genuine?? Does not look like it but certainly sounds a good alternative togetting them from LR

Yes it is a little!
They use the photo to somehow work out the cars "keycode". You may also have the keycode on a plastic fob, often found in the owners manual wallet. You can give them this instead, but no real difference really.
The key is cut from the Keycode pattern, so it will be identical to the key when new. They don't cut it from the photo which will mean your key will be worn.

If you are unsure, i advise you have the key blade delivered to a work or friends address for security reasons.

Yes it comes lose, with a cable tie around it.
You may be better off buying a couple of empty case and transfering your "guts" over.
You can buy replacement buttons from ebay and you might as well fit a new battery too if your handy with a fine tipped soldering iron.
Or there are people who offer this service for you like here...

Not really, most key cutters would be able to do it
Sometimes when we ordered keys for early D3's they may not have had the code on file at LR so had to either send digital photos of originals so they could work out the cut or if not they would supply full lock sets
 TLO has left the building.......

I tried to get one, but no reply. Which website did you use?
There are two rules for success,
1. Never tell everything you know.

RLD Spare Wheel Protector
RLD Sump Guard
Narpy Style RRS Grille from Beanie
Discostick 3rd button FBH controller
IID BT
