Ok is it a widespread failure? Can it be due to problems with the control unit?

To somebody happened but it's not a frequent flaw

Are you not able to monitor the oil level? Or what?

it often happens that the indicator does not visuallyize the oil level (follow the LR procedure hot oil engine and waiting 10 min)

Try it when it’s stone cold. If it doesn’t work then, you have a problem.

If it works when cold, but intermittent when hot, you’re just not waiting long enough

My oil sensor with a cold engine (outside temp - 6 ° C) does not display the correct level, it says the level is insufficient despite the fact that the oil has recently been replaced, while it displays it correctly with the engine warm. I'm afraid that the oil sensor has a problem I wanted to know to replace it if it is possible by disassembling the oil sump or lifting the body and then the engine. what is the procedure to follow? Thank you

No need to body off or engine off.

From the bottom:
1. Remove the front diff
2. Remove the sump

It seems to be quite common in the 3.0 litre RRS engine, which is the same engine is it not? Mine was replaced by the dealer when I bought the car and there’s quite a few instances on RRSport.co.Uk and RRS groups

The underlying fault appears to be the wiring harness suffering from oil ingress (Td5 injector loom anyone Rolling Eyes )

However, its not a light undertaking, and a new sensor is an extra £40, it makes sense to replace it while its already out Thumbs Up

Mine failed on my 4 after 8 months of ownership.....

Luckily I bought the car through LR Approved so it cost me nothing.....

I've not heard on many others having the same problem but it is a sump off job.
