Replacement Battery for D4
Plenty of discussion about batteries but...
Do I jeopardise an approved warranty if I change a battery without going to LR?
If not, Is there anywhere near Richmond, Surrey who do so some friendly battery diagnostics, and perhaps fit a new one for me?

Would a low battery warning also affect whether the timed climate comes on or not?

Yes, low battery will deffo affect timed/remote climate. Replacement is very easy (if heavy) to fit (3 wheetabix needed for breakie) but you'll need to reset the battery management system with some widget like an IID. No idea re warranty but as the battery isn't covered by the warranty I doubt it.
