Replacement screws

Hi,

I've noticed recently that the two screws that hold the aerial mount on are getting increasingly rusty. Does anyone have advice on a stainless alternative that will replace these before I have issues trying to replace them?

Answered my own question

Any reason I shouldn't change these to stainless? Galling etc?

Mine are rusty too, but I’ve not done anything about it.

Reason ….. I read somewhere that the female section can get stripped or seize (or some sort of damage).
It can then turn into a much bigger job, or the easier solution to just ‘tiger seal’ it back down.

So for me, it was best left alone.

But when I’ve next got the black paint out, I’ll just pop up on the roof and give it a few dabs.

Ha, That's why I haven't touched them yet for fear of what it will lead too!

As you say, black paint might be the cheaper long term alternative rather than messing with something that's not broken yet.

It's a m5 thread, not sure the length, if you manage to get them out. I'd to put new inserts in, not difficult.

DAB of rust killer and then paint Thumbs Up

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
