Replacing Auxiliary Socket |
|
After working well since I got my D3, I've now lost the right channel when playing ipod thro the Aux socket. Can get it back by wiggling (sorry Adrian) the plug. Changed the plug but got same result so pretty certain its the socket on the back of centre console thats knackered. I use a Belkin amplifier to lift the levels. Suspect socket might have been damaged by rear passengers clouting the Belkin's plug.
Sick of mono sound and keen to avoid stealer's hourly rates. I can use a soldering iron if its not a plug-in connection. Does anybody know how to replace the Auxiliary socket? Where to get one from Radiospares or LR? and how to gain access to it. I had a peer around and dont see any fixing screws.
Grateful for other folks' advice or experience.
Cheers,

Is that the aux socket in the back of the centre console? If so the whole unit would only cost a few quid from TLO. It just pulls out. A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Thanks Tanters.
Yes its on the back of the console. On a rectangular black panel with a power socket. Helpful to know it just pulls out. I'll have a go. I didn't want to risk breaking it by forcing it.

Many thanks Wiggs and Tanters.
And sorry for late reply - been away for a few days.
