| Replacing Fuel Filler Lock |

I finally (after 2 years..  ) got round to checking why the fuel filler lock doesn't work.
Taking various bits apart it seems the end of the pin has snapped off - the mechanism works and the pin moves in and out but not far enough to engage with the catch.
My questions are:
1. How difficult is it to replace the cable - I assume it's simply the cable with the pin on the end?
2. Is it really worth replacing if it can be broken? I guess anyone who wants to steal diesel or pour nasties in my tank won't care about levering the flap open?
