Well the work has paused while i await a couple of tools to enable me to continue the job.

However all is not lost as Amazon turned up with my mirrors and extendable telescopic magnets so i can use the time to search for that 8mm ratchet spanner and nut that are somewhere down the front of the engine!

Edit…….bloody marvellous things, spanner was wedged in an impossible place and the magnet ripped it out and brought it up. Nut is still missing!

And not long after the mirrors my t30 T handled torx wrench turned up.
Not wanting to strip out the head on any of the four torx screws holding the EGR valve in i bought this so i good get a good secure grip on these things as i cracked them loose.
All went well and using my new telescopic magnet i was able to safely lift out the screws with no risk of them dropping away into the void.
The area around where the valve sat was filthy so i carefully cleaned the crap out taking care not to dislodge any dirt and blocked it with a clean rag.
Now the bolts to the fuel rail are accessible and when my hinged ratchet spanner arrives that can be removed. Without the EGR valve being removed this is impossible.

So, the angled 10mm ratchet spanner arrived and i thought, ‘great, last bolt out head off today, simples’.

Well it would be if i could get proper purchase. The head slips off the bolt and i do not want to round this bolt to the point of it being useless.
The EGR valve removal for the other bolt does also help access for this one and i can get a six point socket on it…however i can not then get the ratchet handle on the socket as there is not the clearance due to a coolant pipe being in the way that i can not fathom how to remove!

So, to any one that has done this before. Could you advise how you got this rear rh fuel rail bolt out?

It would be much appreciated as this is the last one i need out so i can remove the manifold.

A small update.

This problem was all my mistake.

I was presuming that my removal of the EGR valve was done, what i actually removed was an actuator that sits on the EGR valve. This allowed full access to the front bolt on the fuel rail and i did not grasp that i still needed to release the three bolts holding the actual EGR valve to the engine.
When these were loosened i had good access to the second fuel rail boltto remove it.

These three bolts were easy enough to get to when i took out the stop start battery and the plastic battery tray bits.

So, all now being fitted back together.... As much of a pain in the Censored and fiddly at the back under the bulkhead as it was taking it apart....what a joy!

So nearly there.
