Replacing Suspension Compressor - Bracket Mod

Just replaced the compressor on my D3, now on it’s 3rd unit which I guess isn’t that bad as the old girl now has 293k on the clock!!

Any how came up will a bit of a mod to the bracket to help get on that tricky/ almost impossible top bolt back in. I cut a horizontal slot in the bracket from the left hand side into the bolt hole, you can then start the bolt with no obstructions and simply slide the bracket onto the bolt. Perfect!!! It works a treat

I’m sure others have posted this before but it really makes install a breeze

I did exactly this also when I replaced mine last year. Saves a lot of faffing about trying to get the bolt in blind. Kev

I’m about to do mine. I’ve been told to get the AMK unit instead of the Hitachi as the AMK fails less than the Hitachi. Is that right?

Just bear in mind that when you cut the slot they will not honour the warranty on the Part.

I did this three years after having a new compressor fitted by main dealer, they never fitted the third bolt. Whistle

If you have the later AMK type there is no need to remove the bracket and the pesky 3rd bolt
