Replacing Tyres - Looking for some comments on my choice.
Looking for some advice please. I have OEM D3 18" alloys currently wearing Pirelli Scorpion Zero 255/60 R18 112V M+S.
I would like to fit BFG AT KO2 265/65 R18 117s. Would I have any issues with the increased width/tyrewall?
The car is used mostly on-road, with occasional mud and rock-type off-road.
Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Change of mind on this one. Now going for either Goodyear Wrangler Adventure 265/60 18s or Pirelli Scorpion ATR same size. Pirellis twice the price, but I guess you get what you pay for...

Careful with the ATR - Pirelli's website for the UK now shows only 2 sizes and neither are 18 inch, so you may find it difficult to get replacements. Having fallen foul of Pirelli's random tyre importing changes over the years (first with the ATR and later with the AT+), I'd be wary of buying anything other than the LR OEM stuff from them these days.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Oh, that's interesting. It looks like the Wranglers have it, then. I did want the BFGs, but apparently, they're pretty dodgy on wet roads. Cooper ST Maxx and the Yokohama Geolanders were in the mix. At least having 18-inch wheels gives plenty of choice.

I see Harrys Garage on youtube is testing out a new version off Pirelli all seasons on his Full fat. So look out for a video soon.
I think he said the summer performance was better than the old version. (at the end of his latest video)

I've recently put Falken Wildpeak AT3's on mine after looking around and quite a few people are recommending them at the mo. They're good in the wet, but I haven't used them in anger off road yet, but reviews are good. They were a good price for the 19 inch version, so possibly better for 18's.Volunteer driver with 4x4 Response South East Wales

Surely they'd be more expensive for 18s?... Smaller hole in the middle

A vote for AT+, on my second set of them since half year back. Doesn’t seem to have supply issues currently, a friend also purchased a set. 16..20” inch available in Europe but of course that doesn’t really work for you guys anymore.

You got through two sets in half a year? Crikey! Very soft compound I guess.

Have you had a look at the General Grabber AT3? I can recommend on D3/D4. Pretty much all road use for me here, and all weathers incl. Snow, and they've done what their supposed to.
I use Tyres Direct Luton as they're quite local to me in AL5, and the setup there is super slick and careful of rims etc.
I have 20's on my D4, and are 2018 manu. And have lots of life left. I can work the mileage out if you're really needing it.

I guess I need to write better. Meant that I got my second set of them in the summer. Happy with them overall.

So, having looked at all the availables, and listened to all the good advice here, I'm down to the choice of 3:
Goodyear Wrangler Adventures OR Yokohama Geolanders OR General Grabber AT3's
Which is it to be?

have run geolanders before and found them to be a good road biased AT tyre. Bloody good in snow too. There's a new geolander out which is more aggressive but in limited sizes.
Having had wrangler ATs for the last 20K or so I have to say I didn't find them particularly special - they were in the new defender size of 255/70/18. Looked around at what was available and have gone with Kuhmo's this time round which is a more aggressive AT and a couple of thousand miles in I'm very impressed - quite sensitive to finding the right pressure but once there they seem to handle everything i've been able to through at them and where particularly sure footed when towing in high winds - which is not something i could say about the wranglers05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system

Thanks for your response. BTW, I agree with you on the EV front. Had a Mercedes EQC400 AMG for a year, luckily I had year's break clause in the contract and sent it back just before Christmas. Acceleration was mind blowing, but got over that novelty quickly. The rest was a pain. 180 miles between charges, and all the range stress that goes with it. Not for me until they bring out something similar that does 600 miles. Plus, I'm guessing the resale value of these things will plummet once they get near max charge cycles (which is why I leased it).

in a very narrow usage band EVs are great - sometimes a bit like tyres to be honest !
the only thing about geolanders by the way is they don't have big sidewall lugs so in rocky stuff they could be a bit vulnerable - the Kuhmos do.
People get a bit funny about what are traditionally known as "budget tyre" brands but what they don't realise is that they just aren't the traditional tyres offered to us.
I have no problem trusting my race car on Yokohama, kuhmo and Hankook tyres - I trust Pirelli and Michelin on the track less - it does rather come down to a preference thing and price of course. There's not really "bad tyres" out there now apart from the really cheap stuff.
