^ Well that's what Land Rover say it does....

Would make sense for:

Manual Heat to be manual FBH 30 minute activation to warm cabin if engine cold - as per manual

Manual Vent to be manual use of residual engine heat to warm/cool cabin if enginewarm.***

I do find it odd that that Land Rover design very useful systems but do not promote then in dealerships or clearly explain them at handover or in the manual for that matter.

*** See posts below re MANUAL HEAT/VENT and having ignition off/radio on

I'm pretty sure 'Vent' means extracting cabin heat during warm weather

I have remote timed climate ...if I press the button when its cold weather ...it heats it up ...if I press the button when it's hot weather ..it cools it down to ambient.

Manual Heat will work if the engine is warm, the ignition is off and you turn the radio on.

Manual Vent will work if the ignition is off and you turn the radio on. This will just start the fans and is used to pass outside air through the cabin. If you want to manually fire the FBH, then you need to have the remote fitted.

That's Land Rover for you Whistle

Both HEAT & VENT buttons are designed for use while sitting in the car is stationary and the engine/ignition off and RADIO ON.

The Heat according to manual turns on FBH for 30 minutes.

THe Vent turn on climate control to vent presumably warm or cold external air into the cabin. Not sure if this will use residual engine heat but I don't think so.

And quote from WIGGS from another thread:

Quote:
The 2 buttons are designed to work when your sat in the car ( Waiting for wife for example ) ... You switch on the radio and the buttons are unlocked . You can then heat / vent the car .

If you have the ignition on / or car running the buttons will be grayed out as you can manually heat / vent the car by the normal heater controls

Get the remote set up .... It's soooo much easier

Wiggs

Its worth noting that if you HEAT the car while sitting in the car then get out an lock car the FBH will turn off. Its only for when sitting in the car. Therefore cannot be used as a manual way of starting FBH in the morning to pre-heat.

Yes but the remote mimics the same use ....'vent' extracts air from the cabin ....'heat' fires up the FFBH

Yes if you have a remote - most will not Thumbs Up

I think that not many people realise they could fire the FBH for cabin heat while sitting in the D4 with the engine off (Radio on) waiting for the wife or just waiting/hiding/sleeping Whistle Laughing

Are you talking about the remote key fob or separate non standard FBH remote optional equipment?

DG thats what I said the vast majority do NOT HAVE the optional FBH remote so need to know how to use via the screen. It has already been said the remote will do the same but most will not have the remote!

Re: "Residual Heating" while Stationary via REST button

Gazellio @ Prestige Cars wrote:
Great feature available on new Range Rovers. My new 2017 VW California Beach has it and gives back engine heat for up to 40 minutes! Just press "REST" button when engine off. (Rest button on Heating & Ventilation Menu on Screen for Land Rovers)

Drive into a beachside car park in winter to watch the sea and get 40 minutes heating with the engine off...

Does anybody have it on a D4 or D5?

Yes but what I am saying is that it wont do the above in your first post. Wink

Yes but the thread moved on from first post!!! Wink

(You will note I have lined through references to "Residual Heat" in my previous posts as I was in fact arguing it did not have it but others have claimed they use residual heat and I cannot change their posts.)

It works great in the California though Ner Ner
