| Restricted Performance -> Gearbox Fault |

Hi,
Novice warning here! - Be kind! 
2010 Disco 4 HSE.
Started having a very intermittent issue with "restricted performance".
Which became "gearbox fault" - On the last drive I had to use Command Shift.
Haven't driven for a couple of weeks due to holiday however now I cannot find any forward gear in either D or Command Shift. Will select R, N and P which is not much use in even trying to get it to a garage!
Are there any tips, tricks or advice or am i in recovery truck territory here?

The only thing I can advise you is to read the error codes...
Without it you don't know what's going on?
