"Restricted performance" yesterday..

Happened to my wife.....she switched off and on twice and it didn't clear....I told her to bring it back as she was only 2 minutes up the road. She switched off and on again when she got back, and again,it didn't clear.I was standing by the car by this point, and heard what I can only describe as a soft "chuffing" noise as the engine shut off....Turbo ?
She swapped cars and I went out 5 minutes later to put the car in the drive, and it had cleared....I assume getting the fault codes read is my starting point ?
Don't you love it when your car knows that the warranty ran out 12 days ago Rolling Eyes Censored

Probably turbo related; first guess would be the CSOV but get the fault codes read.

Cheers Robbie...I did a bit of reading on here last night, and it seems quite a few have had this, only for it to disappear on its own,and never rear it's ugly head again.....hopefully that will be the case.
I will pop into my local garage, and if he's not busy get him to read any stored codes Thumbs Up

Probably a good prompt to buy an IIDTool now that you are out of warranty.

I bought a Disco Mikey instead.....it's easier to understand,I won't lose the plot with it,it's mobile, pretty cheap to run,self-updates and it's user friendly.....it does get through breakfasts at an alarming rate though Thumbs Up

He would probably moan if you tried to put him in the glovebox though. Kinda handy to have one immediately to hand.

Had this happen occasionally always with fault code P2264 and no other faults/symptoms, lived with it for a while as it usually reset once the car had gone to sleep (and annoyingly the fault code was gone once the car had gone to sleep, fortunately I had an IID tool so could read the codes whist the error was present on the dash).

Last month or so ago it started to do it at almost every start. Fix was easy - change fuel filter housing, the one I bought came with a new filter and sensor as well.

Haven't had the fault reoccur since.

Didn't manage to get the codes read today, but no reoccurrence of the issue...gave the car a good workout and it certainly wasn't lacking for oomph...
Fingers crossed it was a one-off..cheers boys Thumbs Up

Landyhead - you probably need to get the codes read first before going out and buying a new filter and housing. The restricted performance message on the dash can be the result of many different faults not just the fuel filter housing. Replacing the fuel filter housing is a very specific cure for the fault code P2264.

Google IID tool and you will find lots of online sellers, but of course there are other fault code readers available or you could get a garage or forum member to read the faults for you. P2264 seems to disappear on shutdown so you have to get the fault codes read when the restricted performance message is being displayed, which can be tricky.

In the end mine went in for a service so I got the garage to change the filter housing at the same time, as the fuel filter was being done as part of the service so it saved some of the labour to get the housing done at the same time. I have seen them on ebay and most LR parts suppliers should have them (as well as main dealers of course if you want to pay top dollar!)

Had this on the work car (Bosses FFRR 2006 - 4.2 Supercharged version) when I got to play properly with it one day...

Had been putting my foot down a lot for about 10 mins, on the mountains in Montenegro..... Bong.....

Puled over and let it chill out for 5 mins and never happened since....

Had this 2x on mine in the 2 years I've had it from new. Both times shortly after startup, when the engine was warm-ish. On both occasions, turning the engine off for a couple of minutes cured it. I'd love to know what caused it.

There is a software update that cures the spurious occurrences particularly on newer D4's

I got this fault yesterday also - towing uphill and the autobox was not changing down when I and the engine thought it should, so I invoked the "-" paddle. Still pulled like the "Flying Scotsman" though and wee triangle has gone on switch off and not reappeared.

I've just had this happen. Popped out to the shops, all fine. Got back in and started and have the message in the dash.

I stopped the engine and put the ignition back on, but it's still there.

Anyone around the Walton-on-Thames area have a code reader tool that can read them for me?
