Retro fitting Fuel Burning Heater

I don't think my MY 09 D3 has an FBH - how do I tell?

Assuming it doesn't how much would it cost for an independent to supply and fit an FBH ?

What additional costs are involved to fit a remote control - no fitted 'phone in the car but rf switching would be fine.

Are there other enhancements / options ?

I thought they were fitted to all UK spec D3's, it is roughly located between the battery box on the near side and the washer bottle fill tube Thumbs Up

As far as the remote aspect is concerned, send an email to TFC Thumbs Up

I too thought it was fitted to all UK spec cars.

In which case mine is not functioning, outside temp. yesterday morning was just above freezing & engine temp. ambient after being parked overnight - should FBH have started automatically?

Is there anything I should do to get it to start or enable it?

Start the engine - that usually does the trick Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Seriously though, you seem to be under the impression that the FBH starts up on its own if the temperature drops far enough. It doesn't - it starts when the engine is started provided certain conditions are met including ambient temp 5 degrees C or lower and coolant temp under 75 degrees. It is there to assist the engine to warm up faster, not to preheat the engine.
It'll only preheat if you fit it with some sort of remote control device.

You can usually smell it if it's working or see the smoke coming from the NS front wheel arch. If you're still not sure, start the engine, give ia couple of minutes then get out of the car, go round to the NS front wheel arch and either listen out for the roaring sound the FBH makes or find the exhaust and see if it's hot.
Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills Smile
