retrofit accessories?

Hi all!

So our land rover dealer says stuff like surround cameras or wade sensing etc can't be retrofitted. Is this true? Only outside stuff like sidesteps, mudflats, winch can be fitted on.

Wadesensing we actually had a little argument as the saleswoman told us to rather just use the 'good old stick' to see how deep it was'...

with enough skills and patience anything can be retrofitted also depending whether one needs to add wiring looms or they are already there which makes things easier.

Most popular retrofits on a d4 are the remote timed climate kits and the reverse camera. I do quite a few. Thumbs Up

As said above, the surround camera needs more wiring, cables and modules.

If you want surround cameras or wade sensing it may be best to buy a car with these fitted.

I tend to agree with the salesperson that I would rather just use the "good old stick" to see how deep the water is rather than plunge in regardless & rely on wade sensing. What happens if wade sensing tells you it's too deep? Do you back out Whistle

If it's deep enough to cause concern there well may be underwater pot-holes you can't see, and you would be better investigating your route through the water on foot with a wading pole. I say this having seen someone drive into deeper water than expected part way across a flooded river on Exemoor; his car was carried away downstream. Happily no loss of life but a write-off.

I suppose I might not wade ahead where there was a chance of lurking crocodiles etc..

+1 for what NJSS said. If wade sensors are in the mirrors you may already be in trouble by the time they tell you it is too deep. And depth is only part of the story: flow rate of the water, ground surface traction, ground surface integrity (missing manhole covers, washouts, etc) may be more significant even before the depth is out of limits.

If you ever go to Iceland and do wading over there do NOT rely on your depth sensor pal
you will die!

I find that when roads are flooded there's usually someone helpful in a Fiesta who will go blatting through the water so you can use their car as a guide to depth Mr. Green
