If I remember tight it’s all or nothing. If 1 sensor is out it disables the system

It should be ok in theory if the fronts are set to not fitted.

Interesting idea Pete! Although my fogs are currently in. Is it possible to take them out without removing the bumper?

Yes remove bezel. Then 3 screws?

You could leave them out for a week or so

Another bizarre idea. Remove the loom and sensors.
Stuff them behind the grill and then you can easily plug and play to find fault.

I can’t believe a wire would have chaffed thru so quickly

Bit of an update:

So yesterday I dropped the bumper off again so I could remove the whole loom. I did continuity tests for each colour wire from the main plug to the sensor plug, and as expected all were fine. I even tried this while moving/shaking the loom at the same time and still all good.

Today I plugged the loom back in and reconnected the sensors. I got the instant fault that started not long after putting the two new inner sensors in place. I took one of my spares and tried swapping it out for each of the four current ones. Sure enough I found the fault was caused by one of the new inner sensors so I left that one replaced.

I then, with car in reverse and EPB off (chocked at wheels), checked all the sensors worked correctly. Basically I held them all in my hands pointing skyward and then took one at a time and pointed it as something moving closer and further away. All sensors behaved as expected. Again I also checked they didn't trigger when being moved around but out of range. All good.

So I put them all back in the bumper, connected everything up again, checking they still worked at every stage. Fitted the bumper, etc and again checked everything was okay. Even checked nothing triggered when moving the plugs under the headlight around. Still good to go.

I then went for the road test.

You can see what's coming ....

Same Censored, different day!!!

So in summary, the sudden fault I received the other day was a red herring. As in, one of the replacement inner sensors I fitted was faulty. Replacing the two inner sensors did not change anything. Also, now I have checked the loom and also tested with sensors connected whilst giving it a good shake around, I feel confident it isn't the sensors or the loom at fault. However, the problem (random or continuous beeping) only occurs when the car is running.

I am back to thinking the loom(s) from under the headlight all the way back to the module, or the module itself, may be faulty.

Next steps:
* Remove the rear panel to access the module (already bought new replacement belt bolts), and check connections.
* Perform continuity check (with and without engine running) from the plug under the headlight to the plug at the module end. Can I do this with a long piece of wire from a pin on one end to bridge the obvious gap to the multi-meter at the other end?
* If that checks out, do I need to get a replacement module maybe?

Thanks as always.

I recall someone plotted some Graphs of the sensor readings with IID. I wonder if this was with eng running. And found a duff sensor

I think u need to do the same to see if you can pin point it to a sensor location.

Honestly mate. I bet its one of them new front sensors.

Hmmmm, Might order another sensor or two from yet another supplier and do your suggestion of swapping out via the fogs.
