Retrofit reversing camera to Landmark. |
|
Hi all,
Back again after upgrading from from D3 to a new D4 landmark.
Loving the car and already had a few options activated such as timed climate and 4x4 screen.
Would really like to get a reversing camera fitted that will run via the touch screen.
Anyone done this?
Is it possible tho just plug a camera into the back of the touch screen unit and activate the feature in the ccf?
As always, appreciate any help
Chris

Thanks for the reply Wiggs.
Is this something you offer as a service - supply, fit and activate rear camera?
I am also after getting voice activation setup.
Thanks

Happy to drive oop north as my son lives nearby?

One question:
If a car have installed surround cameras and in the ccf we activate the rear view camera imput plug....what happens when you select reverse??? I ask this because I will maybe put a camera on a trailer and want to see behind it when reversing....

Pretty sure you can't select surround cameras and reverse camera at the same time
I have surround cameras and have a camera ( another digital one ) fitted to my trailer
I just swap a lead with one of the front cameras ... That way I can watch my car reversing camera and my camera on the rear of the trailer at the same time
I fitted the cable in the car ... When I hitch up the trailer I have a connector fitted at the back which I join With the one on the trailer G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Yes bud I have fitted the D4 reversing camera I used a camera from hids4u site sponsor..
looking at that post I would think they are cheap Chinese copies for that price.... and I would bet the don't work with the D4...

Thanks for the quick response Flack, but with that redirection to hids4u I'm now also tempted with upgrading the poor headlamps on the Landmark too... more expense!
Anyway, did you have to get the GVIF unit too, or did the camera plug straight into the back of the existing sat nav screen?

No bud I made a cable up and connected it on to the back of the screen. But a GIVF unit is the better option it gives you more flexibility, but a bigger job to fit.

Sorry to be a pain... you say you 'made' a lead... is it just a simple phono plug into the back of the screen?
Also for the power, did you simply crimp it onto the power that feeds the reverse lights, so the camera is only powered when in reverse?
Did you need to activate anything on the screen to auto-switch to it when reverse is engaged?
Cheers

No its two very small pins, its the same size as the plug that fit a cd drive on a pc, and yes you power the camera from the reversing light feed. Once its wired in you need to then have the reversing camera enabled in the cars CCF file that I can do. It will not work without this..
