How do you set the reversing mirrors to dip when reverse is selected. Both manual and previous posts suggest you set the position in reverse and chose "memory" - I don't have electric seats and therefore no "memory" or lazy entry option.

If you have not got electric seats then you cant store the settings .Lcd screen will allow you to activate mirror dip reverse ..but without electric seats ..you cant store the settingsG4 Gone ...but not forgotten
So without electric seats I cant use the reversing mirror dip - how delightfully stupid!?! Or is that just me?

Yep, basically that's it
The seat memory control module controls the mirror positions and reversing function

Just a quick note: My girlfriend has a HSE with electric seats - and who had the function of reverse dipping mirrors -
Be careful, she deceided 6 months ago to reverse into a gap in Bristol to park, looking at her mirrors as one does "to see where the kerb is" she hit a car behind.
I have ever since - always had theses turned off - Way to dangerous when reveresing as you cant see whats behind.
YOU SHOULD REALLY KNOW WHERE YOUR REAR TYRES ON - in terms of kerbs etc.... after all who needs mirrors....
"Do you really want your missis hiting a Capri from behind" !!!!
SHould have got her rear parking sensors you tight git!
Sorry - made me chuckle that story

you dont have to have them pointing at the floor and can use the normal rear view mirror. I wouldnt say they were dangerous Duncan

This might help others - I had assumed that the dipped position (where the mirrors point right down to the ground and you can't see anything except where the rear tyres are) was fixed but thanks to TFC I discovered it's not. You can adjust the mirrors while reverse is selected to give just a slight dip, which helps while reversing but doesn't obscure everything more than 3 feet behind. You then press the store button and choose a seat memory and the D3 remembers how you like the mirrors to be when you're in reverse. Brilliant!
No help if you don't have the seat memory module though - sorry!

Agree with DiscoDunc, they are not dangerous as long as they are set up correctly. I have mine set to dip slightly when I select reverse but I can still see what is behind me in the mirror - I can also see behind me by looking in the rear view mirror or simply by looking over my shoulder. Besides that no driver should reverse if they can not see what is behind them... sorry m'lord I couldn't see the police car when I selected reverse due to the mirrors dipping 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Do we have to talk about not seeing police cars in the rear view mirror?
