Right hand intake manifold
Hello,
I am in the process of replacing the right hand intake manifold in my D4 3.0. In the workshop manual it says remove fuel rail. Is it necessary to remove the rail completely including the fuel line that runs behind the manifold or is it enough just to loosen the screws and pull it aside?
Thanks,

don't you need to remove the fuel rail bracket too? In which case I would get the rail out the way

Thanks for your replies. Does the fuelline behind the manifold also need to be removed completely?

New question. I am removing the fuel rail and it looks like the EGR valve needs to be removed in order to remove the two bolts holding the fuel rail. It is not mentioned in the workshop manual and I have some hope there is a trick...

Thanks for a quick reply. Do you loosen it from the wheel well or do I remove the battery, tray and air box and gain access that way? I have the workshop manual but it is not always easy to realize what you are actually looking at...

So changed the inlet manifold just to realize I didn’t get the seal right in the back of the manifold… How can I make sure it stays in place and is there a way to check it before putting it all back together again?

had exacly the same problem, i fixed the seal with a few drops of silicone on the cover. And no you cant check before you put all together.
On my first try i lost a lot of oil at exacly that spot. But the second time i installed it, i was much faster

SeanZwissler, thanks for your reply! Yes second time must faster also for me. I will try to use some Permatex to fix the seal this time. Did you remove the hard diesel lines completely to gain some more room?

Morning
no i didn´t remove the fuelline, the problem is the bracket and the bolt of the fuellinebracket, this bolt blocks the cover. Its the bolt right behind the Camshaft on the picture.

Did you remove or cut the bolt to gain access?
