Hi, is there anyone who can help me?
I have a problem with 09 Disco 3, it suddenly stalls, then it's difficult to start and after an hour it's ok.
I have changed the high pressure sensor, the fuel filter, the low pressure fuel pump and a new battery. It's only got 36000km from new. I have the car in Madeira and we have no dealer out here.
Can anyone help?
Thank you

You need diagnostic codes read, otherwise you'll be chasing your tail and throwing away good money on unnecessary parts.

With such a low mileage it's obviously been idle for long periods, this can bring it's own problems regardless of manufacturer Thumbs Up

It also sounds a bit like a canbus or imobiliser fault, fault codes will narrow it down

Hi guys, in low pressure fuel system should bei a temperature valve in the fuel line. This valve makes the fuel returning back to the Filter and not to the tank. Does anyone know where i can find this valve?

Well, there is a temp valve in the fuel filter housing which is bimetallic, but it is there to prevent diesel waxing during cold conditions.

It allows warm diesel to circulate within the fuel filter and should close when the fuel reaches about 50°C.

Is this what you are looking for?

Yes, this is the valve I am looking for. I have the later Filter version with screw on canister. Can I find the valve in the holder where the canister is screwed in?
And what is with the old filter version where the fuel lines are directly connected to the canister?
Is the valve included in the filter canister?

My understanding is that the valve is in the housing on the later type filter. I have never tested it and just replaced the housing on the later type if I thought it suspect. In any case, I don't think it's serviceable and you would have to buy the housing as the valve is unlikely to be available separately.

On the early type the valve may be in the filter itself, but I have never had cause to go looking for it....
yet! Laughing

Hi,

Since a month, I am experiencing issues where my car goes into limp mode and gives an F on the display.

The errors I get are P0087-00 and P2290-00 at each limp mode occasion but never at the same time. The come with some U-errors regarding gear box and park brake.

I already checked tail lights, brake light switch, changed fuel filter, tried another TCM ecu and no matter what the issue still exist.

Then I came across this thread and saw the method of diagnosing the LPFP. I checked; mine draw about 2.5A and only delivered 0.35 bar, dropping to nothing when revving.

I then bit the bullet and replaced the LPFP but now I still have the issues with the above codes and bings and bongs and limp mode...

I checked again and even my new pump runs at about 3A and gives 0.4bar. I read in the first page of this topic the draw should be between 5 and 10 amps.

Could this be due to clogged fuel lines? Should I probably change the fuel filter housing? (I have the later screw-on type; already changed the filter of course)

I have an IID tool so am able to read values if that helps you helping me Smile tnx!

Robbie's guide to LPFP

Many thanks for your impressive guide to the LPFP system. I am having issues too, I have a question regarding a black pipe from the front of the tank that is sitting near the bottom unconnected which appears in image 22/31 of your guide. Can you advise where it should be connected if at all. Thanks for your help ,regards Nigel.

Hi everyone, I need your help with a problem on my 2005 Disco3 2.7. When the engine is cold and the outside temperature is low (but not below zero) the car starts (which I believe excludes glow plug problems) and then stops immediately, then it no longer starts or in any case only after many attempts or when the outside temperature rises. I have cleaned tank, replaced the LPFP, tested the relay/fuse and made a service, also replacing the Fuel filter but unfortunately the problem is still there.
It seems as if the system empties itself or does not maintain the pressure and strangely it seems that the external temperature also contributes in part since once started and with a warm engine the problem disappears.

Anyone have any idea where to look for the problem?
Thanks in advance

Check the injector leak off pipes of one is leaking it allows are to enter the fuel system and the fuel will run back to the tank. The engine will then start on the fuel in the high pressure pipes and stop when it runs out of fuel.
You can also try turning the ignition on for 30 seconds off and back on for another 30 seconds before starting this will refill the fuel lines and bleed the air out.
