roof bar noise pales into insignificant background ambience when compared to the roar/thunder/end of humanity noise a freshly fitted Windcheetah rack makes down the M4 at 80 as I discovered after picking it up from Ken the other night, well when I say picked up I actually mean 'fitted'
G4 Expo Rack + some lights beats 'em all for noise in my opinion, drowns out the ST tyre whine - stereo running at 13 and above cures it though Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

ronp what slots are the bars you have fitted in ? maybe ill try the same ones you did and see if its a position issue
Not had them off since initial fitting.
But as I recall they would slide up and down the rail, but would only lock in one position.
And that's where the slots are.
Take a look in my gallery at some side on pics and that should give you an idea.
If needed, i can go out and measure.
btw, don't know if it makes any difference, but I don't have a sunroof.I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Sometimes the whistle comes from the little gap between the edge of the rubber strip and the rack at the bar end. Check it out. If it looks like that then just tape it up and see if that works.

Canoe pads cured the whistling on my Thule square bars...
Have left the bars on after recent trip to N. Wales with canoe on roof and I'm getting (indicated) 31.something mpg over a couple of tank fulls, against best ever of 32.something for a run, not a tank. Quite surprised at how little difference the bars make (and the 16 foot canoe actually appears to have no impact, but perhaps that's 'cos I drive a little more cautiously!)

Because of the whistle noise I decided to buy Thule bars. The square bars were even worse so I ordered Thule Aero Bars and they are still very intrusive once you get over 50mph. I even taped every tiny slot up and they are still a pain to drive with so have taken them off.
