Roof rack question / opinion |
|
Do I go and get one of the Rhino Platforms (same as Ronp has) which means rack, fittings and a Thule roof-bar set...?
Pros - will fit any vehicle (later on); easy to put on/take off as needed; seems to be very strong
Cons - not full length of vehicle; the look of it could be a bit suspect...(but I can change that just as Ron did)
Or do I get a second hand LR expo rack (a second hand one is available)...?
Pros - well it fits...; full length
Cons - is it really that strong (for tyres etc)?; definitely not easy to quickly take off; can't use it on any other vehicle
Price - about the same. So that is not part of the equation. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Get a Patriot .
Seriously, if you intend putting any serious weight up top the forget the expo. I got rid of mine for that reason. It wouldn't take the RTT. Either wieght or ease of fixing HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

You don't need the Thule roof bar set!
Mine is fitted to my Standard [& always fitted] LR Aero bars [with appropriate Rhino clamps]. I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.
