The one in your link won't fit a d3, as far as I'm aware you need the roof rails to fit a rack on a d3.Just remember:-
Amateurs built the Ark
Professionals built the titanic
One in pic traded on eBay as Direct 4x4/ Goliath.
AFAIK still needs short rails & is noisy, all steel as well so quite heavy.Paul.

Roof rack for Disco 4
Hi
Has anyone experience of the full length aluminum rack as sold by direct4x4 on ebay ? Alternatively has anyone a quality rack for sale at a reasonable price?
Thanks

Take a look at Flat Dog, they manufacture their own racks and are very similar to the Front Runner ones

Hi Zack
Thanks for the quick reply.
I chased up a Flatdog rack on ebay a couple of days ago. I asked for details re condition and brackets and was told the following:-
'Ok... so. The rack fits to a d4. There is mounts you can buy from flatdog to fit direct to the roof rails. I had it on my d4 but i took out the gutter covers(whatever there called) and put the direct into the bolt holes. '
I wasn't sure what the guy meant about 'fitting direct into bolt holes' and as the starting price was £450 + courier delivery + possible brackets I decided not to bid. A new one would cost £702 a direct 4x4 one is £550. I am sure you can see my delema, looking for a bargain with not too much cash.
Best Wishes

I presume they meant the roof rack fits direct to the bolt holes that the roof rails fit to, so no need for the roof rails. But you can get brackets to fit to the roof rails if you have them, and want to keep using them.

Yep, exactly. When you buy one from Flat Dog they send you a part that replaces the factory roof rails and then the roof rack bolts straight on. If this chap hasn't got them anymore I don't imagine it would be too much hassle to get Flat Dog to send you a set.
I have just seen he has re-listed it on ebay so you've got time to chat to Flat Dog if that's something you want to pursue.

Disco 4 roof rack
Hi Guys
Any idea how robust the Bearmach rack is, anyone got one ? The flatdog rack seems to be heavier built and the Bearmach has corner joins which I suspect may be a weak point.

Hi Iguana and Ivan
Had a look at your suggestions, one is too small the other I had already seen, a Bearmach rack hence my query regarding how well built the rack is.
I contacted the seller of the Bearmach rack (via ebay) and was told I would need full length roof rails in order to fit to my Disco 4 with three quarter rails. From my internet searches it looks like Bearmach have 2 very similar racks, part numbers 3868 and 3869. Anybody know what the difference is ?
Many thanks for all your help it's very much appreciated. Keep safe and well.
