I am a lurking member of the Disco3 Forum and I trying to sort out roof rails / bars for my 2006 TD6 ES. I have a 150 x 115cm aluminium basket to go on top. I have the 3 glass sun roof.
I am not even sure if I need to fit rails to carry bars, as I haven't lifted the rubber inserts.
The LR rails available seem to be too high and don't run the full length of the roof? I have seen pictures of a low profile rails that go the full length on a Disco at a European carshow last year?
Hi David,
I have and can recommend, Rhino Racks. They are lower than the LR crossbars. Plus the tracks and crossbars are waaaaay cheaper than the LR offering. There are also a lot more options available too.
Looks like it is about $463 for the tracks, legs and crossbars of your choice - HD, aero or sports (which all have a 75kg load rating).
Cheers,
Rob
P.S. Welcome!

Roof Rails Options
I can second the Rhino option. When the cross bars are off the rails are virtually unseen. You can have full length basket if you choose or alternately just over the raised rear section. Based on my experence go to Roof Rack Specialists as I spoke to several nuff nuffs at chain store and 4x4 shops. Did not know the product!!Tourer

I went for LR bars first, but when I started needing to get serious went for Rhino.
There are some pics in my gallery under 'My D3'.
ARB bumper is next on the list

yep - go Rhino, pictures in my Gallery too.
I have the long channels at the back and the short one at the front above the front seat area.
They're pretty easy to take on and off too - I leave mine off and only put them on when i need them.2012 MY13 SDV6 SE D4 Ipanema Sand with Almond leather

I have seen a D3 that mounted their large platform rack direct to the roof, so perhaps rails are not necessary at all. But I can't say from direct experience - I have the LR rails.

For anyone who has installed the rhino roof tracks... The install instructions describe cutting away caulking inside the roof channel at the rear end and touching up with cold gal. Was this necessary when you did it?
Even if you choose not to install the rivet?

Not on mine.
Probably due to someone cutting into the paint and then complaing when it rusted. Butt covering?“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
