Thought about that but guessed it would weigh a ton. I've settled on a DIY contraption now though. Loosely based on the same scissor type system with an electric car jack to do the lifting. I should have it finished by next weekend. Will post video then.Cogito ergo sum!

That's it exactly. It's all in place. Just need to bolt everything down on Saturday and make sure all the alignment is right then it's good for a test lift.Cogito ergo sum!

Re: Roof Tent on Trailer height adjustment
abermarc wrote:
Hi all,
Have looked at a few of the trailer builds on here but cant quite find what I am looking for. SWMBO and myself are both 6 footers and our Sankey conversion with tent on top and folded out stands at a little over 5 foot.
I dont want to raise centre of gravity whilst travelling so I need to design a system to raise the height by about 12 inches when it's setup. That'll allow us enough room to stand up straight underneath it.
I've seen a few designs from scissor systems to simple frame that you lift manually and prop underneath with axle stands to auto mated systems. I want to steer clear of the automated system for fear of adding too much weight. A nice simple system that a laymen (with poor welding skills) such as myself could build fairly quickly and easily would be the ideal.
Ideas and especially pictures would just perfect.
Thanks all.
Wondered if there was any more on this?
As a matter of interest, have been looking at pool table jacks recently:

We ended up with a total change of plan after and bought a different trailer entirly. One with a trailer tent, we thought it'd be much more confortable and safer for our little one so the Sankey is currently up for sale though I do have a buyer potentially.
Anyway, the system I'd settled on was similar to this which I saw on a trailer at the AO show last year. the only difference being I was going to use electric scissor jacks instead of the manual ones so it would raise at the push of a button.
Though that pool lift looks solid and very similar in design.Cogito ergo sum!

Yeah I thought of the pool one whilst at a pool match last night (and noting my username!). Pool tables are incredibly heavy and also large.
I'm giong to start this next month and see what happens - and yeah, I will swap out for electric jack D3 07 SE - still going strong

I bought one of those electric scissor jacks to test the concept for mine before going out and buying all 4. Obviously surplus to requirements now, I don't think you are anywhere near me otherwise I'd say you can have it for £20. Brand new with case etc. only been used for testing.
Look forward to seeing pics of your build though Cogito ergo sum!

For most South Walians Malvern is our local Land Rover Show. Being one myself I just assume everyone knows about it, sorry.
I'll bring it to Kelmarsh with me. Trailer is looking good by the way. It almost has a Venturi feel about it, similar shape.Cogito ergo sum!
