What a royal pain regarding the Scorpion AT+ 255/55/19 Big Cry

Have seen some here but alas whether they have any in stock when ur ready is another question

https://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/pir...e=37055293

Must confess I’m going to try the falken wildpeaks , seen the 255/55/19 for around £140 plus the fitting

Pirelli are scaling back on importing to the U.K. due to the increased costs and fees.

If you pop over/under the channel you’ll find 19” AT+ available to buy.

Update on my Yokohamas.

A couple of thousand miles now, under every condition, motorways, floods, off-road.

I'm very pleased; they are confidence inspiring, quiet and appear to wear well, as far as one can tell to date.

I had a disastrous slow speed puncture on a very remote rural lane last week. I ran over a large flint in a puddle, which completely ruined the tyre in question - down to 3 psi in 50 yards! I don't blame the tyres, just inadequate drainage, which meant I couldn't see the flint, as it was under water. I later recovered it, to protect other road users, it was twice as big as my fist & had two razor sharp edges.

It will be interesting to see how they perform when the road temperature rises.

Purchased from Horndean Tyres, whom I highly recommend, at £143.40 per tyre, fitted & balanced.

Now, after nearly three years, what’s your opinion of your Yokohama Geolander GO15 tyres?

I’m currently looking at these to replace Pirelli ATRs which are cracking (nearly seven years old) Looking for a AT tyre for green laning but one which has good road behaviours especially wet grip and has winter capability (3PMSF)
The Geolander GO15 seem to fit the bill in all but looks and fuel efficiency.

What’s your mid term verdict on them now?

Time certainly flies by and I continue to be delighted with my Geolander GO15s fitted 3 years ago.

Since then I have only covered 15k miles ! Accurately measured fuel consumption has improved very slightly from 23.9 MPG to 24.0 MPG!

I have just measured tread depth and was astounded to see that all had in excess of 7mm of tread left:-

My Nissan Navara work vehicle.... I've just removed some 6 month old BF Goodrich and replaced them with Yoko' G015's - had the yoko's on my old pickup and they are a great tyre. The BFG's are just plain lethal in the wet, they honestly nearly killed me a few times on wet roads.

I have Pirelli AT+ on my Disco winter 19's and although they are a great tyre, they are very noisy now that they're half worn. When they get replaced I'll be fitting the Yoko's on the disco too.

Are there any thoughts on the Falken Wildpeak AT3WA in comparison to the Geolander GO15s

A preference for one or the other - and why

Anyone has experience of both tyres?

No knowledge I fear.

But I note that the G012 A/T is ranked 10th of 51 All Season All Terrain and Off Road tyres, whilst the Falken Wildpeak AT3WA is ranked 17th.

Scotland 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Manual Java BlackDiscovery 3

After a few days/weeks(*cough*months*cough*) of losing myself in various tyre review sites, tyre threads, Facebook pages and the black circles website, I think I’ve finally decided to go with the Falken Wildpeaks. Should be getting them fitted Monday week so I’ll report back with initial thoughts, and post winter (if we get a proper winter) I’ll have some further words, and once again after summer.
By all accounts and reviews, they should be very good in every aspect of moving and stopping a D3. Only £170 each fitted Shocked
I do also still have the Scorpion AT+ (£200 each fitted) in the basket as I haven’t had enough brews just yet to bring myself round to choosing and paying Laughing

I’ll have to decide soon as I need them fitted before the 30th… I think the two are comparable, similar sticker ratings for noise/fuel. They both have similar high ratings for all conditional grips etc. They’re not miles apart in price.

Anyone want to help me decide? Primarily road use, but when I do unexpectedly see the less grippy stuff it’s usually pretty grim going in boggy, snotty mud, long wet grass, occasional gravelly rocky roads etc.

Cheers!

Shealesy

Edit: they’ll be 255/55r19 if that makes any odds.

I've been in need of 4 new tyres, and similar to you, I've been looking around for alternatives, and come back to getting GGAT3's fitted again. I like the look of the Pirelli AT Plus but quite a few people say that they can be noisy, which has put me off. Albeit they may be no noisier than the GG's, I've gone with 'better the devil you know'. Also helps that I'm getting them fitted for £136 each plus vat (255/55R20).
Anybody with the NFU can get 10% discount on BFG's, General & Falken tyres.

I’m very limited in AT tyre choice for the FFRR oe size 255-55-20, the AT+ would have been my first choice had it been available in that size. I ended up with GG AT3 which I can’t really fault yet, I’m just about to fit them again for their second winter.

Short but comprehensive AT+ review here:

Where are you guys shopping for these prices? I’m obviously location limited so spent most of my time on blackcircles, but they have the AT3s at over £200 for your 20s Shocked
For my 19s they only have 50 and 60 profiles, I’d happily take more sidewall but £236 each from BC Big Cry

Edit: By location limited I mean it’s easily another £100 in fuel, coffee and lunch, and a whole day out for me to go and get them fitted in Inverness. Whereas BC have an approved fitter 25 miles away so I can manage that in a morning Laughing

Edit2: Also just noticed the Scorpions don’t have the 3pmsf which I’ve always been fond of having, so that has taken a turn down the list. Looks more and more like it’ll be the Falkens!

My Scorpion AT+ has the 3PMSF symbol too. Pirelli has it on their website too.
