Subject: Parking Brake Cable<br />Posted: 15th Mar 2024 1:47 pm (GMT 0)<br /><br /><span class="postbody">
Hi, does anyone have a good trick to remove the parking brake cable from the dust shield? I've persuaded the plastic cap to undo but I cannot get the metal ferrule at the end of the cable sheath out of the tube on the dust shield.
<br />
<br />
I've tried heat, rotating the ferrule (it won't), pulling (managed to get the cable sheath out of the ferrule) but it won't shift, and I've tried levering on the circlip recess.
<br />
<br />
It hasn't budged even a fraction so am I missing...<br /><br /><a href="https://disco4.com/forum/post2364394.html?#2364394">view forum post</a></span><br />

My rear park sensors quit working a while ago, but my wife is keen to have them working again. A few years ago, one sensor (rear NS outer) failed, but I didn’t want to take the bumper off so I just left it. From memory I think a 2nd one failed some time later, and now the whole system is dead.
<br />
My iid tool shows these 2 faults:

Parking Aid

Hi,
<br />
<br />
I want to get a OBD tool to check for error messages and small tasks. My first job will be to check which parking sensor is causing me grief.
<br />
Before I shell out for a Gap IID can an Autel AP200 tell me which sensor is at fault?
<br />
I've read a number of threads saying it covers most of the basics and others where it's not been much use at all
<br />
<br />
Thanks<br /><br /><a href="https://disco4.com/forum/post2363897.html?#2363897">view forum post</a></span><br />

Now I don't like to question people who know more than I do, but....
<br />
I contacted AF about some (normal) diff oil for my MY07 D3 TDV6 and they sent me a link to this:

What I've picked up on is that it's GL-4 oil and not GL-5, now I'm...<br /><br /><a href="https://disco4.com/forum/post2363843.html?#2363843">view forum post</a></span><br />

I think my Clutch release bearing is on the way out as its started to rumble when the clutch is lightly depressed. Whilst I have it apart will do the Clutch and anything else in there thats needs doing however
<br />
1. Is it worth Putting the Heavy Duty Kit (Plate & Bearing) in
<br />
2. Does the Duel Mass Flywheel need to be replaced (No record of it ever being done)
<br />
3. Does the D3 have the earlier problem with the release arm breaking or was this fixed by 2005
