Hi,
I am replacing my alternator and i am trying to remove the fan. I am having trouble griping the pulley that holds the fan on. Is there a knack to remove the fan? I know it is a left hand thread so it is clockwise look at it form the front ... correct?

Just trying to weigh up pro's and cons and why it seems most people on the forum tend to go for a canvas type (Howling Moon/ Hannibal) roof tent rather than hard shell (Columbus/ Maggiolina/ Impi) type? Is it roof space/ ability to use the bit of roof rack left? Weight? (Does the ladder on the canvas type take some of the static weight off the roof) Durability? Cost? Or is it purely personal preference?

Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated.

view forum post
My block heater burned out last winter and the local dealer is having trouble locating a replacement part. Given that the engine appears to be a variant of Ford's 4.0 V6, which is quite common here in NA, would the block heater from Ford work as a substitute?

view forum post
I use an alientech powergate to download and upload map files to the ECU. Before service I restore the original and download again after the service. Has worked 2 years without problems until recently.

I notice from md5 checksums that the garage has intstalled a new map on the ECU which the alientech gadget downloads OK. Now however the gadget wont allow me to load remaps claiming that they are no longer compatible.

I guess I need a new remap file.

I wonder if anyone has experienced this. Driving the D3 HSE 2005 Auto 51k Miles the drive take up is very good and smooth but when gently moving around a car park or in slow traffic there is a noticable slack and take up in the transmission which is not there all of the time . Not a huge thump but more of a nudge which is becoming very annoying. Does anyone have any ideas on what this may be? My 60K 2005 model passes coolant up into the seperate tank space of the header tank. As a result the level in the header tank itself drops to minimum, and seems to trigger the low coolant warning on the dash. I can get the upper tank to drain back by removing the small black screw plug, after which the header tank level is at max. Hi All

I'm fairly sure my D3 needs the four wheel alignment done (slight steering wheel vibration above 60mph, and a little bit wandery below this), but I need some advice on where to go..

Anyone had it done recently in the Leicestershire area? I'm after someone who knows how to do a D3, rather than someone super-cheapo...

Need to get my D3 serviced.

I am struggling to get it to a Land Rover dealer as they are all too far away or in the middle of nowhere with no shops and SWMBO will not sit around waiting for it.

Just spoken to TH Whites in Cirencester (they are the Subaru dealer as opposed to the LR at Wotton).

They are offering a good price - about £100 cheaper than LR are quoting me.

Dumb question before I book it in - Will this...

view forum post
_________________
A pessimist is an optimist with experience

Having changed the front pads and sensor on my D3 the other day I realised that I'll probably need to change the discs reasonably soon, plus of course put another set of pads in.

While I'm at it I'm considering what I can do to improve the brakes slightly, and I've been looking at various retailers sites because I'd like to fit Slotted and Drilled discs.

Does anyone have any experiance of either the Britpart or EBC discs?

Quite a simple question, but is there any way of enabling the wing mirrors to fold in automatically when you switch the engine off/park?
bit new to this posting topics, allthough have used this great site many many times to help out on my varoius D3 issues. Currently been display suspension fault for a few months, it goes orange after about a minute, and then cannot change ride height without turning off ignition and back on, wasn't bothering me to much but have now noticed that nearside rear seems to be sitting lower. Can anyone recomend someone in the Maidenhead area who could plug me in (and hopefully tell me...

view forum post
Hi All,

I'm assuming the drivers side sun roof drain pipe has come off at the valve end !

Can I get to it if I remove the inside of the wheel arch ? And how do I do that - is it just a matter of removing all those plastic clips ?

If anyone has done this job please help !

Thanks,
My D3 seems to be leaning to the right some. It doesn't go down over night or anything it just seems to be leaning a bit, about an inch. Is there any way to reset or calibrate the suspension by some series of holding switches? Or is it a stealers only job?

view forum post
_________________
Sceen name use to be "wantsanlr3"

I know that there are a number of previous posts on this topic, so I apologise for raising it again.

It appears that my 06 D3 has developed a turbo problem but would appreciate any advice from forum members before I take it to the dealer for a diagnostic check but from the symptoms I have described they have already indicated that the turbo will need replacing.

The fault occurs when the engine has to work harder. I tow a small caravan, 1200kgs laden. ...

view forum post
_________________
*Disco3 7-seat Auto

Has anyone had experience with front or rear lamp guards sold by a company called Travall? The photos on their web page look like LR OEM parts. In addition, Travall’s installation instructions look identical to the LR.

view forum post
_________________
MHB
Having some work done next week to disco steering arms and bushes replaced. My local mechanic spoke to dealer when ordering parts and they told him I will need to have alignment carried out after work and only they can do it. Is this true. I had new tyres fitted six months ago by large tyre fitting Co near Basingstoke and they carried out alignment for me, they had all the gear and seemed to know what they were doing and charged less than half what stealer has quoted. Advice needed please

view forum post
