Rubber Inserts for LR Roof Bars

Just wondering if anyone knows where you might be able to get the rubber inserts for genuine LR roof bars?

Reason I ask is that I've seen a set for sale and they don't have said inserts:

This stuff ought to do the trick

https://www.amazon.co.uk/replacements-Wing...&psc=1

I'm sure other generic strips will be available for similar or less if you have a bit of a hunt around using that description.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I am pretty sure that the new Defender L663 roof bars are made by Thule so that the link NoDosh put up should work. On the L663 bars the rubber inserts have a series of diagonal stripes on them, however I doubt that anyone buying a set of second hand bars will not be such a nerd to spot the difference. GLWTS

Hi Jason - Which strips did you go for? I’ve just picked up a pair of bars off eBay without strips (where do they go?!?!) and have read the strips without the grooves are noisy?

Thanks pal

James

Hi James,

I bought these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284636373709

They are a set of 2 strips. Really good quality, right price and they have the grooves on them.

Easy to fit but do need trimming to size. Quick job with a Stanley knife. Took me about 15 mins to fit & trim.

Best regards,

Jason

Australia

The back of the chevron style rubber strips it says Volvo for the genuine Land Rover Freelander cross bars.

If you need a 20mm or whatever captive plate (nut) in the cross bar, you do NOT need to cut out a section of rubber.

Simply trim down the 2 rubber wedges just enough to the length of the plate (nut) required & drill a hole through the rubber.

The rubber strip will then hold the plate (nut) in the required position along the captive channel & you only end up with a 6mm hole through the rubber. The rubber strip stays in place. Works brilliantly.

Later if you decide to remove the bolt going through the rubber strip. You only have a 6mm hole which isn't noticeable in the scheme of things & the rubber strip stays in place.
