Nice to see that Landrover are maintaining their quality standards...
My d4 is 13 months old and already has rust on some parts of the bodywork - under the tailgate handle for example so not due to unrepaired damage.
I assume LR will keep to their customer service standards too and claim that it does not need to be repaired or refuse to repair under guarantee because it does not pierce a body panel. We shall see.
Anybody else got this type of problem?
The last Disco I had was plagued with rust in the first year and LR offered to repair it if I paid half the cost!

Sounds more like this may have had a repair before you got it, as am not aware of any one else having similar issues. Take it back to dealers and have a chat with them before you go to far on the forum. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone

I found out that magnetic L(learner) plates don't stick on the tailgate so I'd say aluminium.

I think SCEH is being a little unfair on LR with his, quote "Nice to see that Landrover are maintaining their quality standards... "
I have found that in the past few years they are light years ahead of where they were, across all models!
Since 1986 I have had 5 Range Rovers and 2 Disco 4's and to be honest I have yet to complain! Yes, there are always little quality issues in some shape or form but even the much vaunted BMW's get their quality problems.....I have a friend who would cheerfully chuck his 2009 5 series beamer in a hole!!

The D3 is steel apart from the tailgate and bonnet.

I agree with Paul - I too have had a few LR vehicles recently as you can see from my signature. My G4 does not get babied and there are no rust issues there as far as i can see, and no, Geoff, it is NOT because I have had to replace all the panels before you say it The D4s that I've had have been very impressive as is Ali's FL2. I think that build quality and QC at JLR have improved massively over the last few years. I can't honestly see us choosing anything else tbh. Just MHO of course My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription
MY15 Mitsubishi L200 Barbarian
RGK Tiga Fx Wheelchair,
Large Alsation called Abbs
Medium blue Staffie called Piglet
Medium Alsation called Bailey

My D4 is still under warranty..... I've had one problem with it & it was sorted by the dealer within a couple of days & while they were doing it I had a 2012 D4 HSE to play with ..... customer service was excellent.
I agree LR have had periods when they weren't the best (by a long way!) but I think they've might great leaps in the last few years. This is my 8th LR over the last 15yrs, granted some were too old for LR to care about but I've always had helpful service.
My Grandfather had RR's, my father still has LR's (he's had FFRR, D2, D3 & currently a F2), I've grown up with LR and no ammount of issues has put me off ..... maybe I'm a bit mad Nick
2010 D4 ....... now gone and replaced with a 05RRV Autobiography
