How do I safely remove this?

Hi,

Ever since I fitted the dog guard in the back of the D3 I've had a rattle that's driving me insane!

I've narrowed it down the nearside rear upper B Post, if that the correct thing to call it. It seems that when the braced bar for the dog guard pushes again it it changes the form of the moulding which allows something to rattle in the void behind it.

I was going to beginning stripping it but on discovering what looks like a cable / braid for the rear seat belt pretensioner or air bag curtain deployment cable I thought i'd ask here first!

Here's a picture of said mould that seems to have the rattle behind it.

Any suggestions would be most welcome. I can't turn the radio up any louder as it's giving me a headache Thumbs Up

Cheers

With rear air con there are vents roughly at the position of the cage support bracket.

Maybe behind the panel is a cowling or similar that connects up if rear air con fitted?

Doubt there is much there other than some after market audio or electrikery!

I believe the airbag deploys from the upper part of the headlining above the windows not from there.

just a thought.

Thanks for the reply Asa,

I wish it was rear air con vents rattling, sadly I don't have them Big Cry

Ah, so if the airbag is in the roof lining it could be a cable / braid that activates the airbag upon a side impact, I don't want to deploy that as I've just replaced the airbag restraint control.

I trip to screfix for some expanding foam might be the order of the day Rolling with laughter

Cheers Nick

In my manual, that is called the "C" pillar. I think the (grey/black) left-hand section has to come out first but not totally sure. Most trim pieces are only clipped in and just pull out, use a trim tool to ease it out from the clips
