55 plate HSE
Purchased by me in March 2010 with @87K miles.
Now showing @230K miles
Serviced/maintained by me in my ownership – Oil and filters changed every 7500 miles.
Image from a couple of years ago.
Price.
Please read all of the description below carefully.
I have been advised on the value of the car, AND the format of how to offer it for sale on here.
Apologies for any previous confusion.
I have been advised to offer the car for sale with a low starting price of £1500, but invite offers over that price to be submitted.
After 12.00 noon on Saturday morning the 20th July, it will be sold to the person who has offered the highest amount over £1500, or the person who first offered £1500. I would rather open offers on the thread, but if you want to make an offer in confidence by PM I will post the amount on the thread but not who it’s from. But I will forward the original PM to Martin so nobody can accuse me of posting non-existent bids.
Oh and I need it gone, so by the end of play on Sunday the 28th July please, or sooner if possible.
A full list of what’s been done to it service and repair wise is available.
New engine and Turbo fitted under warranty by LR at 33K miles, so engine now on @197K miles.
New Torque Converter fitted at 175K miles by local specialist.
Converted to V8 front brakes with V8 Caliper carriers and discs.
4 reasonable condition Wranglers. Fronts wearing on outside edge.
MOT until early November 2019
Engine still sounds nice despite it’s @197K miles, but is obviously a little more noisy than it was.
Engine needs to have Cambelt and Fuel pump belt changed again VERY Soon, as it’s about to hit 200K miles.
EGR Valves were blanked and pipes removed many years ago.
It’s passed loads of MOTs since because my MOT man can’t see past the engine cover.
It consumes a Steering Wheel rotary coupler every two years, and currently needs a new one to turn off the airbag light.
Auto box has done the full 230K miles with a flush at @137K miles. It’s sometimes ‘rumbly’ when sat stationary in traffic in drive.
It’s done a lot of Towing, including my boat which can be 3tns on it’s trailer full of Camping and Diving gear.
(Although Torque converter, filter, oil etc changed at 175K miles.)
Pre-Bluetooth, but fitted with Parrot kit who’s controller now needs replacing.
The driver’s side wing mirror will only auto dip in reverse when it’s wet or damp???
Will also now only adjust In and Out, not Up and Down unless, I assume, it’s wet.
Does Powerfold OK though.
I replaced the usual suspension bushes years ago, the fronts and all ARB bushes with Polybush, but I think they will all need doing again soon.
The rears certainly before another MOT.
Coolant goes from Max to Min every few thousand miles, but has done this for years.
Both rear brake back plates are holed and corroded badly, but it’s passed two or three MOTs like it.
It has a permanent error code showing a VIN fault on the body control module.
That’s because I replaced it with a used one several years ago, but it’s never caused any problems.
Aircon is cool not cold.
A big Shock to me, opened the rear passenger side door for the first time in ages today and found some corrosion in the wheelarch.
A couple of big stone chips across the body above the windscreen which are both showing surface rust.
Two stonechips in the windscreen, both of which passed the MOT last year.
Small area of corrosion on the upper tailgate.
Various very small scuffs etc on the body, but reasonable for it’s mileage.
It does need a clean and polish.
Interior is in reasonable nick, even the drivers bolster, but needs hoovering and cleaning.
I’m sure there are dogs hairs in places I don’t know exist, but it certainly does not smell of Dog.
The front passenger seatbelt warning light sometimes pops up when a heavy passenger gets out having been sat in the seat for a while.
A quick thump of the seat base turns it off.
The 2012 cartography disc in the Sat Nav is obviously out of date, and occasionally jumps @5miles in any direction if it’s confused by driving in a field where it can’t see a new road. It doesn’t reset unless the ignition is turned off. Really annoying if you are using it to get somewhere.
There is a 2 inch tear in the rear drivers side interior door card.
The drivers door seal attached to the body is worn.
The ashtray pulls in and out rather than work on it’s mechanism.
For anyone that knows the car, I will be removing the rubber mats, Fixed Towbar, Dashcams, BAS FBH Controller, and spare wheel protector before sale.

Sorry Sea Raider, I don't think I could do that distance on the bump stops!

Well that didn't go very well
I'll consider offers under £1500, but might put it up on ebay later.
How much do you think it would cost to ship it up to Scotland?

£3-400, depending how soon it needs shipped, generally My D3 Build Thread
At that price I guess Sea Raider could be your man.
It's a decent D3, Simon lives a couple of miles from me & I often see him driving around in it, and sometimes we even chat at traffic lights!
For transport it's often worthwhile talking to people like DM, but also searching for empty legs on the web.
I've used https://www.returnloads.net/ to get a load of furniture from Nottinghamshire to Hampshire, and I know there are many similar websites.

From what I understand it could be driven on the bump stops for as many miles as one wanted (at a reasonable speed); the problem being that it would be uncomfortable.
In the light of the above I would have thought that someone who wanted a car like this & who lived within a reasonable distance would jump at the opportunity at £1,250.

Thanks Nigel yes.
I do also have a compressor in the garage, so if there was a way for me to get some air into the system it could potentially be driven quite a way.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Whilst I was typing that last post it sold on EBAY for the £1500 having been up less than an hour.
When I've got the money I'll update this thread.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.
