How is the speed controlled, with a traditional twist throttle or by other means, thumbswitch, etc?

It has three level's of assistance Eco, Med, and High. It has twist speed control. Like all legal UK electric
bikes its governed to 15 mph or 25 kph. You can ride it above those speeds but assistance tapers off above 15 mph
