[For Sale] iMac 27-inch Retina 5k 3.2GHz 16GB RAM 2TB Fusion

Apple iMac 27-inch Retina 5k 3.2GHz 16GB RAM 2TB Fusion Drive

This iMac has been with me from new and never raced or taken off-road. It is in mint condition, as I returned the first one due to a speck of dust under the glass….

It comes complete with a Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse 2. It was factory upgraded to 16GB RAM and a 2TB fusion drive (with the larger 128GB SSD). It includes all the usual Apple office apps and a fresh installation of the new Mojave OS. The standout feature has to be the 5k display though - it is truly gorgeous.

Full technical specifications can be found here:

https://support.apple.com/kb/SP731?locale=en_GB

Tested yesterday with Geekbench 4 with my result posted here:

https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/10262922

The iMac comes complete with all the original accessories and is packed in the original dust covers and the original boxes (inner and outer). I probably should have taken some more pictures before packing it all up, but here is one surfing the forum:

As for typical secondhand prices they seem to go for between £1,150 and £1,200 on the bay; pretty much a bargain when you consider the 27-inch 5K monitor alone:

I’d rather sell it to the good home of a forum member so an eBay listing will only beckon if it is not wanted here. Of course Christmas is not that far away and the iMac is a design classic…

Hopefully a forum-only price of £990.00 will appeal.

Given the size of it collection from Gainsborough or via the friendly forum courier network are the only sensible options.

Thumbs Up

Weekend bump. Priced at less than a 5K monitor alone the pc part is effectively free...

I’d consider it for the eldest an Uni, but I think he’s wanting a car for his BD - unless you have one of those to sell. Very tempting that said,

I have one of these and they are absolutely stunning!

If you have a Windows PC I would definitely recommend switching to an iMac, you will never go back

Good luck with the sale

OK... stupid question alert...

I’m heavily dependent on Microsoft products - how effectively can I run MS Word, Excel and Project on a Mac? I don’t really want to have to partition drives and all that malarkey or equally try to ‘force’ documents to work in a me-too offering from Apple.

Wot u fink folks???

Ive got an Imac running Excel/Powerpoint and Word, was 100gbp extra when it was new iirc?

Owned ours since 2011 and apart from the sound card dying once which wiped out the screeen, its been a really good tool, I have noticed over the last year it has slowed down and I reckon its needs a good clean and dump all the years of carp stored on it.

I don’t know about Project but the other 2 are no problem. I’ve run Macs since Vista came out. The first couple of years I had a VM but within that time scale I stopped and ran everything within OSX as it was in those days (Tiger). We have 7 Macs of varying types and all are still going strong so the oldest is 10 years old and still going strong. If you want a machine to game on then a Mac isn’t for you but everything else they are spot on but they do operate differently (more logically to my mind) it is a matter of practice. 👍🏻

To my knowlege There is no MAC version of MS Project, at least there wasnt when I last looked, but I run the full MS Office Suite with no issues.

Id be tempted to buy this myself as its a cracking price for a great bit if kit, however I just can’t find a reason to change mine just to get the latest screen since mine is still working faultlessly ever since I bought it when they brought these new ones out - mine’s pre Retina Screen.
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

MS Project doesn’t exist for Mac. There is (at least used to be) at least Merlin which was an ok substitute for MS Project unless you’re building a ship or reactor or something very complex.

There is Project Online (extra service to O365) that you can of usewith a browser but it doesn’t have full feature parity with the desktop version.

Excel, Word, outlook and PowerPoint do not have the same shortcuts, if you’re accustomed to using those for speed, as the windows versions.

They’re all quite good in 2018 and integrate well with sharepoint and OneDrive.

Access does not exist on macOS either.

Turns out I was wrong Shocked publisher 2016 exists for Windows and the 2019 version was just released.

It was infopath (also for Windows) which got dropped in 2016. Thumbs Up

Anyway, it wasn’t my intention to hijack the post - good luck with the sale of the Mac, looks fabulous. Very Happy
