Sales down 46% in China..here why

I took the first pic in May before the reduction of vehicle import tax. The tax dropped 25% to 10% .so a 15%reduction.this took affect in july at which point Tesla dropped all prices by 15%. Land rover dealers did not. The second screen shot i took today. (Note first price reduction is due to offering a lower spec model)
Many people held off buying a car and this caused a sales drop. They still arnt buying just to add 15% more profit to the dealers.
I have tried to buy a new one.
1st dealer. Didnt call back
2nd waited in dealer 15mins waiting for sales to come.. got bored..left.
3rd dealer only wanted to sell what he had in stock. Saying a new order would take at least half a year...seemed odd when workers dont have enough work.
When you are planning to drop 300k (they cost a lot here)on a car it shouldnt be this hard.
So for the meantime I have stopped looking at LR.
But the reality is merc is no better. Tried to book a new g63(I plan to change the masarati and the g seems fun) they wanted a 30% pre order fee..on a 250K car thats a bit cheeky..
So...the father in law will have to wait a bit for his hand me down d4It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

You’ve got to ask the question if LR will still be here in 10 years time if they continue in this vein.

The outlook for the brand as a whole looks bleak. On the way to work this morning I passed an Evoke and a Discovery sport and still cant tell the difference. At the traffic lights I got sat behind a Velar and they are just awful too. Lets hope the new defender isnt just aimed at getting more hairdressers to the salon if its raining outside!

Hard to argue with this...LeighW
The old girl is on her third engine...

I thought I was the only one who doesn't like the Velar!!
I sat behind a D5 at traffic lights, never realised how tiny the brake lights look.....bright but tiny.
Used to be that a Land Rover would catch my eye, don't notice anything younger than a D4 nowadays.

The Velar is a total abortion imho. The car is far too long, it just looks so odd. A longer version of the Ewoke. I did look inside one at the dealership and the DS had more space. Crossed my mind for a millisecond when I was looking to buy, then I slapped myself in the face.

I understood it dropped from 25% to 15%
JLR have recognised the tough price competition since July, so even if it's not reflected in the listed prices, surely there would be some discounting taking place.
...and Tesla reportedly increased their prices due to an increased levy in US built

Meanwhile, California-based electric carmaker Tesla was hampered by the higher levy on U.S.-built vehicles after it was forced to raise prices in China by 20% to 30%.

I think the Velar looks great. If I were in the market for an AWD estate with good ground clearance, it would be high on my check list. I’ve no idea how much they cost though!2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Ooops yes 15%
The dealers do offer a discount within this 10% so no real discount as they are still on old prices. and only if you pay with a loan....interest brings it to full old price.
They also offer to"help" you save on your tax by giving a receipt at a lower price(dont know who the difference goes to)
All in all makes you want to walk away.It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

LR probably selling more cars per year on average now than when the D3 was launched 14 years ago, the market dynamics relative to demand have changed and they are responding to that demand.
Where I live you can't help falling over Evoques / DS's and Velars (and comparable types from other brands)
