Hi,
Problem or not?.
Does the Sav Nav work out the route time on:
A: Speed limits from the route?
B: Your current speed over the route?.
I was in Esher today and wanting to go to Rake in Hampshire. Nav said 35 miles but 119 minutes!. I thought it would take about 40 mins, it took 35 and the Nav slowly started to change its arival time. all along the exact route.
This happened when going to Longleat from Farnham. We know its about 80 mins, Nav said 130 mins on the exact route.
I used to have a TOM TOM and also an X5 where the arrival time was based on the road speeds...... so why is the LR on so far out upon setting?

Neil, think of the D3's satnav as some sort of in-car entertainment system, and calculate your arrival time in your head by dead reckoning. It's much better that way.

I am sure that it is based on your current speed. I don't remember it being out by that much though might be worth getting checked out next time it is at the stealers

It's also based on tyres size so check that the wheel diameter is correct

Wheels and tyres are factory sizes. It's just awful at estimating arrival times until you've been driving the route for a while.

Neil if you have TMC (which you should have on a 08 HSE) then it could be that there were traffic issues when you originally prepared the route ?? Any TMC delays would be a factor in the time displayed 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hmm just a thought ...well you could recalibrate the unit see if that resolves it. I can't see it being the wheels tbh 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

i have to say the premiun satnav is a total piece of crap, very un-intuitive to use, no scam cam update possible and you have to wear out the bottom right corner every time you turn on the car.
its by far the worst part of the d3, i'd prefer a cubby box in its place!

You can take the screen out
..or you can switch the screen off and put a tomtom in the windscreen
Having gone from premium tomtom to LR nav I find the in built unit is excellent by comparison .... except for speed cams as you say. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I've gone from Tomtom to the Landrover and because it's there I use it I don't think the Landrover Satnav is anywhere near as good as Tomtom but that's all tomtom do where as Landrover has to build the vehicle as well.
The good thing about the Landrover one is I don't have to take it down every time I stop for fear of getting a brick through the windscreen by some 12 year old kid with a knife

Try re setting your trip on the info centre - If it takes average speed then lots of short journeys, traffic etc will have you with a really low average speed. May make a difference to calculated arrival times
Premium Nav - I like it over Tom Tom it's good enough as I tend to leave home heading for say Manchester and then near location search for the Hospital I am heading for. Always did the same with Tom Tom as I don't need to be told how to get to the M6 etc etc . . . .
And TMC can be very useful when there has been a big accident and you missed Sally Traffic telling you all about it "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
