Sat Nav and Reversing Sensor

Hi There,

I have recently bought a 2005 Disco 3 and there are a few bits and pieces not working properly.

She covered 106k and she was main dealer serviced up to 2017, so generally feels good.

The Sat Nav works in terms of knowing where the car is on the map but I am unable to put any destinations into it. If I go the find via Post Code screen, all of the letters are 'greyed out'. If I go to the 'town' screen when you put in a letter, lots of the others become 'greyed out', but it doesn't leave the next letter I need. The CD is in the box under the seat.

When you put the car in reverse, the warning sound either comes on permanently or doesn't work at all. If it comes on it doesn't beep (progressively getting faster) Also, when neutral or drive are selected sometimes it doesn't turn off and you have to manually press the button on the dash Confused

Any clues on these faults would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Austin

Regarding you nav, 2 things come to mind.

First, is it a original LR disc?
Second is the right MAP country selected to start with?

I have seen more often that that country configuration changes when changing the disk…
 Best regards
Harold

Hi Harold,

Bang on. The guy before me had it set to Belgium.

Thanks.

Cheers Austin

Scrub this question. A quick search and I can see you have to buy a new disc (Third-party as LR stopped doing them in 2015)

Cheers

Thumbs Up

Ps. Not the guy before you…. The system itself does that when changing the disk, the default country seems to be Belgium of these systems…..
 Best regards
Harold

Waste of time, its a standalone system and doesnt take into consideration accidents, hold ups etc.
Best with google maps or somethimg else on your phone

Nav in phone might work for some, But not for me tbh

Small screen, no lane assist.. in google maps…but more important.
When using phone for Streaming music etc Not Great with Google Maps

My D4 Screen (2010 maps) Covers still Most of the Main roads, and when in the City i Use a up-to-date TomTom when needed (Rider 550, so i own it anyway because i have Motorcycles 😉)

But i agree with sea Rider, spending serious Money on a obsolete D3 System is the Same as flush it through a toilet Big Cry
 Best regards
