Thanks for this.

you should change dealer
I must say I'm very happy with them.
I've bought two new Jaguars from them (not at same time), very decent about that. Now bought the D3 there (second hand) although they thought they would be selling me a new XF.
They fixed some stuff that I hadn't noticed at first before buying, such as the seats 6&7 plastic handles that had come off and that kinda stuff.
It has been back to them three times already for
1 retrofit BT unit not working correctly
2 I used a bit too much force on the bumper lid covering the towing electrics so couldn't get it back on
3 transmission fault detected
4 front pdc keeps on bleeping to me for nothing
Must admit that item 1 is probably to blame ont he phone and 3 is not resolved, but all I got was a bill for an extra number plate for my bike carrier, cost me €9,75.
Also, I'm that kinda guy that walks in on Saturday unshaven, in old jeans and a sweater when looking around. They have been the first dealer to take me serious. An Audi dealer once handed me a brochure saying 'you may want to consider if you really *can* buy this car and then come back'. (I was driving an Audi at that time but drove by a week after in my new Jag ).
Anyhow, I'm quite pleased with the dealer, but was surprised about this software thing. Will talk to them about it.

this is to remove the update from the DVD that prevents further use of the 1791 code to open input during drive. However I doubt that the changes made are reversable once the new original DVD was in the car and the program did it´s job.
That 1791 trick was a mistake and you would need to do this everytime you start the car. The change of the cars config file is much more elegant since it keeps the changes and allows you to use input on the go everytime (out of the box) in combination with the new NAV DVD.
So it is a 2 step process...
a) changes car config to generally allow the input and
b) a new DVD with that tool to change configuration of the SATNAV itself.
The only thing done by the dealer is to change cars configuration file (which is not worth 200 EUR in time unless someone who knows makes a statement that this will need 2 hours) and after that the autostarted program on the new nav DVD will do the rest.

Correct ..if you have put in a new disk (2006 or above ) your screwed ..you have no option but to get the dealer to enable it ..or an independant .
Time takes approx 40 mins at the dealer as they have to update other things before getting to the particular fileG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

hmmm. Got a mail from my dealer about this.
They say 'all other modules have to be updated first', it's 'a 3,5 hour + job' and therefore 'charging about € 200 is just covering the costs'.
I've now told them to f k off, I'll live with safety € 200 worth.
To any other dutch dealers reading this: you're free to quote me a better price!

Wiljo,
I didn't ask my dealer for a price yet but will do soon. As this might be interesting, sounds like very much.
Could take some while as I am in Germany on the moment.Roel

Pete (Bell Autos),
I am passing through York in the summer (late July - probably on Thu 23rd), if I phone you a few days before and pop by, will you be able top remove the software lock on the 'Sat Nav on the move' for me?
I will give you some longer term feedback on your BAS interface then too! Would be great to get my D3 on a rolling road to see just how many horses the engine is producing.
All the best mate!

Wiljo,
I was at my dealer in Lelystad today and asked about the nav on the move option. He said it would be about 1 hour work if you come specially for that but at service time it wouldn't cost me anything. As they will be playing with the computer allready.Roel
